“Better your grits than mine...” Was my response a gaffe? If so, I apologize.
I have a knee-jerk reaction when someone assigns blame that obviously belongs to a perp. My husband was in a sociology class in the ‘90’s where they discussed the attack of a few “youts” upon a motorist driving through a dangerous neighborhood during the dark hours. The general drift was, “He had no business driving through that neighborhood at that hour with his car window open.” Patently nonsensical.
I think 'Face was just thinking she didn't want any public-official folks near her grits. (Literal or figurative) Responding, in other words, to the phrase, rather than the sentiment, which I can't see why anyone would disagree.
(This is the Molasses Miasma of Niceness, which sustains the Undead Thread in its suitability as a passable alternative to the Beach House in Your Mind. If your keyboard gets sticky, try a little Diet 7-up.)
