- A word of advice to prospective American Idol contestants: vote libertarian.
One day after she announced her support for Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul on Twitter, sales of pop singer Kelly Clarkson's most recent album were surging Friday on Amazon.com.
Sales of Clarkson's album Stronger shot up 442% between Thursday and Friday afternoon on Amazon ( , Fortune 500), moving the album from #38 to #7 on Amazon's sales list.
While there's no way to tell whether her support for Paul was the only reason for this jump, the endorsement clearly made a difference for some fans.

These performers have never been the sharpest knife in the drawer.
I do not support Ron Paul at all. But I do object to the crap that masquerades as reporting in the media. Clarkson is not a racist, but the “news” in Miami is implying she hates blacks because she thinks Ron Paul is a good guy.
By the way, Barry Manilow likes Ron Paul, too.
Barry Manilow likes Ron Paul, too.

Barry Manilow “likes” a lot of men.
Can you explain what you mean by a “backlash”. A backlash against Kelly Clarkson? Against Ron Paul? Against those who against those who are against everybody???????? What are you talking about? A backlash against whom by whom?
I had no idea who Kelly Clarkson was. So, I thought I would listen to one of her songs on youtube.
Here are the twitter crowd commentators discussing it.

Whatever.
Barry Manilow likes Ron Paul? I figured that if ever there were a dyed-in-the-wool lib, it would be Barry. Love his music, but the guy is a little strange.

Simply mind numbed democrats finding a new home. Nothing to worry about.
OK, that explains it. They’re saying there will possibly be a backlash against Kelly Clarkson by the Blacks because she supports Paul-dude who is allegedly a racist. Got it. Thanks. (Yeah; like Blacks even listen to Kelly Clarkson’s music. The backlash won’t hurt her CD sales; Blacks don’t even listen to her.)
I would rather he be a Ron Paul supporter than an Obama supporter. I mean I know that he is a kook, but Obama is WORSE. I would not want Paul for our nomination but I also don’t want Obama as our nominee either.
I never watched American Idol, so I never heard of Kelly Clarkson until I was googling for ‘Stuff Like That There’ from For the Boys. I fell in love a little when I watched her perform that song. I particularly like the look on her face at the end. She knows she nailed the performance.
That said, I don’t much care who celebrities endorse. Almost without exception, I do not find them to be thoughtful individuals. And she’s just kid.
Libertarians/Paulites are railing against Big Government. That’s a good thing.
Yes, I understand fully. I do not watch TV at all. Waste of time.
When I was in my late 20’s I flirted with libertarianism. There were some pretty good writers then that had compelling arguments about personal liberty. That resonated then and now.
I soon realized the thinkers behind what was labeled as the “Libertarian Party” had supporters who were dopers and worse. Remove Christian restraint (voluntary) from the equation and it destroys all arguments for the maximum personal liberty.
Our founders understood that the Republic that they gave us would only work with an honest and moral people. Any other group of citizens would self destruct the ship. That is where we are at. Techno Fixes will not correct this mess we are in. Return to honesty, morality and sincere faith is the only path out.
It is time to DownSize DC! Get the “regulators” out of our lives. Let the nation again be great, own our own.
FUDC
Maybe.
Maybe they're excited about legalized "medical" marijuana. Quein sabe?
A smart young lady—has made some money. Smarter than the Dixie Chicks. Maybe a whole new group to buy her records.
“but Obama is WORSE”
No argument there.
Thought Kelly had a brain.
