If you have a Spanish last name in Perry’s Tejas, you may still get treated like an illiterate, Spanish-only Mexican, and placed in Spanish-only classes, even if you know English brilliantly and not a lick of Spanish.

I see you referred to Texas as Tejas. You do know Tejas is Caddo Indian for Friend or Ally right and not a Spanish word.
