Newt Gingrich tells a tele-townhall that Sarah Palin is someone to be considered for the Vice Presidency or Energy Secretary.
Caller: If youre fortunate enough to be nominated, would you consider having Sarah Palin as your running mate?
Gingrich: She is certainly one of the people you would look at. I am a great admirer of hers and she was a remarkable reform governor of Alaska, shes somebody who I think brings a great deal to the possibility of helping in government and that would be one of the possibilities.

whether he’s trolling or trawling, I can’t think of another candidate who would say her name out loud with superlatives attached the way he did... they wouldn’t want the media backlash... they all have said very tepid generic things about Palin... Newt out and out praises her... for the record, I support Newt :)
Gingrich floats...?
I’d find it more useful for her to float Newt as a possible senior-advisor pick.
My God, this is the first desperate thing I’ve seen Newt do. Ever.
He is definitely trolling the edges of a chasm here. Think how many voters he would lose in order to gain the Palin fans. Of course he is not serious, but to utter a hairbrained idea like that instantly hurts his credibility.
Heck, even Palin supporters would be, or should be, suspicious of the motive. He definitely has spit in his whistle on this one. Yikes!
At least Newt would let Sarah be Sarah instead of what McCain did to her...
Except Newt didn't do it...the caller did.
1st, congrats on making Politco (assuming it was you)
Gov. Palin would be great campaigning for Gingrich- but as a ticket????- not a big enough cargo plane to carry all that baggage.
-:)
How about a soup sandwich?
Those are great!
I see now that this was not Newt at all. Knew it didn’t sound like Newt, but you never know.
Those of us who didn’t read the article need to take a breath. Newt is not into political suicide, that’s for sure.
GINGRICH (68) U.S. House of Representatives [GA] - 20 years [Speaker 1995-99]
Why? FOUR straight balanced budgets (remember those?), welfare reform, 11 million NEW jobs, and about 4% (beats 8-9% everyday!) unemployment under Speaker Newt.
You sure know how to get the PDSers a’posting, Erik!
By a simple reading of the text, this headline is demonstrably FALSE. It will only change the minds of those weak-minded enough not to be able to recognize it for such. Those with anti-Newt bias will of course ignore the truth, or are this very minute calculating a way around it.
Moving from Wasilla to Washington D.C. for four possibly eight years as second fiddle?..
This will not happen.. unless shes drugged, beat up or looses her mind..
I would like to see her prepare for a run for Lisa Moosecowskis Senate seat..
Joe Miller can run for the other one..
Has Newt hired Ed Rollins? |

I agree with you- Newt is fearless. But Gingrich/Palin? First, they appeal to the same base- Newt needs someone who will bring a state, region or an alternative constituency. Second, the media would never let up.
Go Newt!
Stupid. Just plain stupid.
Far more likely Rollins works for Romney.
Notice how everyone (else) but Mitt, is constantly slimed?
I sure do.
Now you're onto something.
