Newt Gingrich tells a tele-townhall that Sarah Palin is someone to be considered for the Vice Presidency or Energy Secretary.
Caller: If youre fortunate enough to be nominated, would you consider having Sarah Palin as your running mate?
Gingrich: She is certainly one of the people you would look at. I am a great admirer of hers and she was a remarkable reform governor of Alaska, shes somebody who I think brings a great deal to the possibility of helping in government and that would be one of the possibilities.

I think Sarah will just continue being Sarah. The press don't like her, she's knows it, but she also understands how to use their hatred of her to keep her name in the spotlight. The continued media attention allows her to do RealityTV, paid speeches, political commentary, etc, which make her a lot of money and allow her to take care of her family. When her name fades a bit, she knows she can say something, hint a future presidential run, etc, and get back in the spotlight. I don't see her "moderating" at all. Actually, I think she's become more conservative than she was as a politician in Alaska.
If Obama wins in 2012 and you see Palin drop out of the spotlight after the 2014 midterms, I'd suspect she was preparing a run in 2016. It would mean she is brushing up on issues and preparing to re-emerge as a presidential candidate instead of a RealityTV star/commentator. The same applies after the 2018 midterms if Obama loses in 2012.
Palin will never accept a VP slot again though - nor is it likely any nominee would choose her (though any of them will seek her support and endorsement). It is very possible that Sarah is done with being a candidate/politician and believes she can be more effective as a commentator. Either way, I don't see her "moderating" at all. If anything, I'd bet she will tack further to the right.
Probably true but anyone nominated on this platform should at least look at her for Energy Sec.
For me VP would be perfect putting her in line for the Presidency in 8 years.
Oh yeah.

I just got finished defending Perry for being stupid in another thread. And shockingly it was not a Chris Matthews troll.Perry is brilliant. He had it right. If Newt had a lil bit of Cain in him he could win.People want Newt to say that he will shake up DC not just go and reach across the aisle and do deals with lobbiests in a powerful position.

I can remember one of the last debates where Bachmann mentioned Newt Romney many times.
But the holier than thous choose to ignore it.
Yeah, about as much as it changed my mind about McPain.Newt is a name-dropper. Sarah would drop kick his invitation like it was a NYT reporter.
You clearly no nothing about the Newt- Palin relationship - and nothing about the context of the quote.
Lol, laughing at the thought of Gingrich and Bohner both crying - can you imagine?
And, yep, the MSM still are enthralled with Obama.
I want to hear someone ask Mittney Mouse the same question.
“Ah, well, haha, I don’t think I should comment on that, for Pete’s sake!”
Newt, you had me at “Sarah Palin”.
That’s an interesting comment - if Newt had a little more Cain in him.
Now that I think on it - If Newt had a little more Cain and Perry - or Perry had a little more Newt and Cain - then we’d have two damned good choices.
Now that would be a ticket I could get enthused about.
I think Cain’s been in enough people already
[- Sarah Palin would not even consider it]
She went with McCain! If Newt stays at the top and she desires the position she may say yes. It would keep her in the spotlight for the future and she likes that.
Yeah, I know how that basketball stuff annoyed you. Did they actually ‘show’ the 6 shots or did you just read it somewhere?
Newt was asked a question which he answered politely - what do you expect him to say? “No” and then get pummeled with WHY NOT! and give the media headlines for the next week that “Newt doesn’t like Sarah” - guaranteeing a lot of lost votes.
It was a set up question, folks - and even a lot of Freepers are falling for it. Discouraging. How easily the lambs are led.
Now, as too who he really is thinking of picking - a PERFECT choice and a ticket that would set obummer’s teeth on edge and the county afire - He said TEN MONTHS AGO - before his had even thrown his hat in -

There’s no doubt that Newt admires Sarah - and Sarah likes Newt...but she will unlikely never run for VP again - for many reasons. She can be more effective in non-elected positions, where she has more free reign...and not put her family through the wringer again so soon.
Newt’s say on Sarah - as he so adroitly stops a lib reporter COLD

Will be happy to illuminate you - for starters:
Newt was one of Palin’s staunchest and best defenders from the media attack when she was first picked by McCain. Someone like Palin does not forget that.
Newt was the last public figure to be excoriated in the press the way Palin does - giving them something very difficult and unique - in common. Very few folks have any idea what that is like.
They were both early to the energy movement: Palin with Drill Baby Drill and Newt with Drill Here, Drill Now.
Palin has commented positively about Newts debating skills and the way he presents his vision and defends it.
Now, he won’t pick her as VP and she would never run for VP again - but if he wins the nomination she’ll campaign for him and if he is elected I would call it 50-50 or better she is energy secretary, which will be one of the most powerful and important positions in the next administration .
One scenario I hadn’t considered. Could put Newt over the top.
