I hate to break it to you, but they’ve been speaking Caddoan in Texas a hell of a lot longer than Spanish.

Texas” comes from a Caddoan Indian word. It is a Spanish corruption of the Caddo word Taysha, which means “friend.”

I’m pretty much thinking that you could take all the native Caddoan speakers and get them in one room. Spanish, not so much.
