Five polls of Iowa this week all show the same thing, Mitt Romney is either in first place, or gaining steam. The NBC News, Rasmussen Reports, Insider Advantage, and CNN polls all have Romney either in first or tied for first. The one poll that does not have Romney winning, the Public Policy Polling survey, shows Romney up 4 points from just two weeks ago.
And on the ground, ABC News is reporting the same trend:
Romney has been drawing crowds numbering in the hundreds wherever he goes.
They spilled out of a hotel ballroom in Davenport, Iowa on Tuesday night to hear his closing argument speech, they lined up at a coffee shop in Muscatine before the sun rose Wednesday morning to throw a couple questions his way and so many people about 450 in all showed up to a lunchtime meet-and-greet at a Clinton, Iowa deli yesterday that the campaign decided to stage an impromptu event with Romney at another restaurant across the street to accommodate the overflow.
Though political campaigns are notoriously expert at filling venues to create the appearance of a well-attended event, the growing fervor for Romney among the Iowans who are showing up to see him this week is palpable.

Lord help us.
Ooh, hundreds......methinks they are mostly paid staffers.......
The Republican establishment: a Death Panel for Conservatism.
how is staying exactly where you have been in the polls for the last year ... “gaining steam”
Romney isn’t gaining steam.
Everyone else is just faltering, and splitting up the remaining votes among to many.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE God have Santroum and Bachmann realize on Tuesday that they need to drop out for the good of the conservative cause.
Romney can’t win in a two way race, period. We have just got to narrow things down a bit and Romney will be toast.
Amen. That stupid poll that showed him beating 0bama has pulled some momentum his way. The people who just want to get rid of 0bama and don’t pay attention to conservative issues may see Romney as their best choice.
Lord help us.
Most of us don’t want this to happen, but if it does, whaddyathink? Obama, Romney, or no vote? IMO, a no vote from us is a vote for Obama. Another four years of Obama IMO is a worst-case scenario.
If Romney wins this nomination it will mean the beginning of the end of this country as we know it. We need a fired up, motivated base in November and he’s not going to provide it. On the contrary he’s going to smother it.
I saw that guy Doug Schoen on Fox was talking about a 3rd party American Solutions ticket. If Romney ends up taking the nomination, I wonder if Newt could get on this ticket. I think they wanted a Democrat and Republican to share the ticket, but better to have Newt and a moderate Democrat as the V.P. vs. Romney at the top. Maybe they could get Trump as the V.P. Romney as the nominee is unacceptable and an alternative option needs to be found if the media pushes him through.
I don’t think Romney winning IA and NH makes him a lock, but if other conservatives don’t drop out before SC and FL I worry that Newt won’t break out of this vote-splitting pattern. Because of the proportional delegation, he could continue getting delegates and building his way up there, but I’m afraid is donations will drop off and make that impossible if the media tries to sell Romney as the ultimate winner just because of a close shave win around 20% in IA.
There hasn’t been one primary or caucus yet!!
lets at least give someone else a chance.
It is either Santorum or Romney.
Vote for anybody else is a vote for Romney.
Well, at least that open amnesty activist global warming scam artist is finished. Good riddance. Stopping amnesty is absolutely critical.
There’s no way I could vote for Romney in the general. I could stomach 4 more years of Obama rather than at 8 years of Obama-lite. The Republican E needs to realize the conservative base means business. Romney is being forced down America’s throat. If they don’t learn now, it will never end.
All good thoughts. I love the idea of a 3rd party. I really believe there is going to a 3rd party, especially if Romney wins. I would vote for Trump as a 3rd party candidate before I’ve vote for Romney. Newt/Trump! Hmmmm. How about Newt/Palin.
Our side, mostly in this case Iowans, did it for him.
Newt was almost at 40-50% territory, but the “thinkers” thought they still had time to monkey around to get a “better” candidate” (like December was the ideal time to do that), not to mention the combined efforts of Bachmann and Ron Paul to ensure that no one endangered their beloved Romney, because they sure as hell didn’t do themselves any favors if that’s what their original aim was.
I still think Newt can turn it around in SC, but heaven help us if the brain trust that FUBAR’d Iowa still haven’t managed to rub two brain cells together by then.
Wait until Mittens get the Axelrod treatment. Then he’ll wish he never ran!
Well looky here we can once again choose the chosen one and follow our leaders in the media and elite Washington. We will never learn, sad and disgusting. We are sheeples and have no balls whatsoever. Depressed in Texas
Ill get over it but kinda pissed today.
I can just see Newt as a 3rd party candidate at the debates with Romney and Obama. Newt would kick both of their butts. Talk about killing 2 birds with one stone!
A vote for Santorum is a vote for Romney, without question. Santorum is dead outside of Iowa and can only take votes away from a stronger candidate. Newt is the best viable Romney alternative. Allowing some illegals to get residency if they’ve been here 25 years with no black marks on their record is not amnesty. Newt is proposing absolutely no “global warming” initiatives.
