I remember a time when cops were helpful, mellow and had an ability to protect and serve. Now many I run into seem like they have an "above the law" attitude.

Back then you were a "citizen."

Today you are a "civilian."

THIS really grinds my gears. I find the cops who most often think this way are the roid freaks with the jarhead hairdos who didn't have the stones to do time in the Marines.

The "militarization" of our police forces is out of control, and in my opinion, it is extremely similar to the dynamic in colonial-era Boston in, say, the early 1770s when the British stationed armed soldiers in and around the city to "keep the peace."
