Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger's marriage might not be completely terminated, according to one report.
The couple, who filed for divorce in July surrounding a messy infidelity-and-love-child scandal on Arnold's part, could get a second chance thanks to Shriver's religious beliefs.
Shriver's Catholicism forbids divorce, so Maria is second-guessing the split, a TMZ source said Monday. The report also alleges that the former governor of California "desperately" wants his bride back and has been wooing her with gifts.
The pair spent the Christmas holiday together

A wise woman I once worked with had some sage advice Maria should heed: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Jackie and Onassis were married in his Greek Orthodox church not her Roman Catholic. Orthodox have different rules on divorce and remarriage.
Not quite. As explained unambiguosly in Canon Law, the Church does not recognize civil divorce in a valid consummated mariage.
Can. 1141 A marriage which is ratified and consummated cannot be dissolved by any human power or by any cause other than death.
Sounds like you've confused what some people try and pass off as Catholicism with actual Catholicism.
Since the swimmer never intended to honor his wedding vows, by his own admission, then a valid marriage never existed. Joan deserved a Decree of Nullity aka an annulment.
Incidentally, the swimmer's marriage to Victoria Reggie was a civil marriage not a sacramental one, so he continued violating the Sixth Commandment until his death.
If they manage to save their marriage and get back together again, I would have the utmost respect for both of them, especially Maria. Best wishes and God Bless.
ick . . .
I agree! They still have a teenage son at home who needs both of his parents!
Maria will have to borrow Hillary’s testicle lock box. At least, to the best of my knowledge, Arnold is not a rapist.
You need to read Mark 10 very carefully before simplifying the word of Christ in the manner you stated. First of all, Jesus did NOT say that divorce was permissible in the case of marital infidelity....infidelity is a word that has much broader meaning than just adultery and it essentially means lack of fidelity (anything less than total loyalty to a purpose). As such, the word infidelity not only includes the act of adultery but it also includes the case where one of the spouse refuses to have sex with his//her lawfully wedded husband/wife. Furthermore, what Christ actually did say was that divorce was made permissible under Jewish law because of the hardness of their hearts.....this was recognition of the fact that some people just simply would not forgive a spouse whether this was for the act of adultery OR the withholding of sex from his/her lawfully wedded spouse. Forgiveness and reconciliation was the preferred path even in Old Testament days.... but divorce was allowed for the case of adultery (albeit against the will of God).
Finally, it is very interesting to do a word search on every time that Christ used the word adultery. It shows up 13 times in the New Testament......4 times to say dont commit adultery, one time when he clarified that adultery also included not only the physical act but even forming the mental image of the act..... and the point I want to make, 8 of those 13 times were various ways of saying that if a person remarries after a divorce, they were committing adultery.
See my post 29.....Do those grounds also include the act of withholding sex from the marriage partner? Or is that when an annulment can be used? Or is an annulment only allowed to kick in if the marriage has never been sexually consummated? Could someone please explain how annulment works in the Catholic Church? I have never understand what looks like such an arbitrary way that this gets pulled out of a hat i.e. as in cases like Teddy Kennedy.
Going downthread, all the religion stuff is bogus!
Maria must like the massiveness of Aronld’s sex muscle,
that’s what she married, that’s what she still wants!
Plus the power!
Well actually it just forbids re-marriage in the Catholic church and you cannot take communion anymore.
Wow...I bet you’re a real embarrassment to be around in public.
Yep!
I just try to let my limp muscle hang out of my shorts!
Ain’t no-one impressed!
I received an annulment, the cost was $600.00.
LOL Yeah I am wrong all right..
