The crazed gunman dressed in a Santa suit who gunned down two families while they were opening their presents on Christmas morning was the father and estranged husband of three of his victims.
Aziz Yazdanpanah, who had separated from his wife in March, is believed to have opened fire at an apartment in Grapevine, Dallas - just after the family opened their gifts - before turning the gun on himself.
Just hours before the families were killed, the group had thrown a large Christmas Eve party at their ranch. Dozens of friends and relatives celebrated late into the night, according to WFAA8.com.
Friends say Yazdanpanah, 56, likely showed up unexpectedly the next morning as he had not been invited to the party.
The victims have been identified as Nasrin Rahmaty, 55, the wife of the gunman, who worked at a nearby salon.
The couple's two children were also killed. Friends say Nona Yazdanpanah, 19, was a student at Tarrant County Community College and her brother, Ali, 15, was a student at Colleyville Heritage High School.
Yazdanpanah also killed his sister-in-law's family. Zohreh Rahmaty, 58, who was Nasrin's sister, and her husband, Hossein Zarei, 59. Their daughter Sahra Zarei, 22, was also shot.

I live in a suburb that borders Grapevine. This has nothing to do with religion. They were all Christians.
This had to do with Bankruptcy. Father got bankrupt, their VERY upscale home in Colleyville (a rich suburb) got foreclosed and he had to move to a crappy apartment in Grapevine (a lower middle class suburb), then he got divorced, his life was spiralling out of control and now he decided that better to be happy in the Eternal Kingdom of God than suffer poverty and hardship on Earth
Joke’s on him though. He will burn in Hell for this. As for the rest of family, they are all in God’s lap right now being given eternal love.

Maybe the killer objected to them celebrating Christmas. Isn’t it considered ‘haram’?

That may be the case. I too am confused. I live in a suburb bordering Grapevine and I have friends who have gone to the Spa where the mom worked and used to chit chat to her while waiting. They told me that she was an Iranian Catholic (a rare breed)
But now this guy says they were Muslim. I guess we will all find out.
But in the end, the dad did not like that his life spiralled out of control. The bankruptcy and the impending divorce and allegedly the daughter’s stalker boyfriend all pulled him over the edge.
He will burn in hell for sure. His family is with God surrounded by Love and Eternal Peace

Some do celebrate Christmas. Jesus is considered a Prophet in the Muslim faith, I’m told. I’ve been to more than one Christmas Party at a Muslim home, complete with lighted Christmas tree.
Iranian muslims with major financial and marital problems. So he solves them by killing the whole family.
