Herman Cain: A Final Word (I just did not like the way the whole "Cain thing" went down)
American Thinker ^ | 12/26/2011 | Lloyd Marcus

Posted on 12/26/2011 6:36:16 AM PST by SeekAndFind

I would not blame Herman Cain if he said, Lloyd, I know you mean well, brother. However, the relentless vitriolic media attacks against me have finally subsided since I dropped out of the presidential race. My family and I are finally having some peace. So why on earth would you bring up my name again?

Well, in a nutshell, I just did not like the way the whole "Cain thing" went down. Also, we live in a fast-paced news cycle, "carelessly nuke a person's life and in two days everyone has moved on," disposable world. Herman Cain's courageous bid to serve his country deserves more than "Cain...wasn't he the black dude sex fanatic who ran for president as a Republican?"

OK, Cain is gone, and we conservatives must focus on selecting our candidate to defeat Obama in 2012. I got it. But it breaks my heart, seeing what happened to this "good man." Cain was attacked from both sides of the aisle. A few conservative pundits even accused Cain of not seriously seeking the Oval Office, but instead simply seeking self-promotion.

Please do not get me wrong. I realize that playing with the big boys in the national arena is tough. I just did not realize how much tougher and how blatantly unfair it is for conservatives. As a conservative seeking to win the Republican presidential nomination, Cain endured a deep rectal vetting not required even of our current president. As a matter of fact, we still know very little about Obama's history.

I don’t recall Mr. Cain saying that he “supported her financially.” He said he had given her money over the years. I’ve given money to my nephew for 17 years, but I ain’t supporting him. And I’ve given money and/or lent money to friends over the years and I’m certainly not supporting any of them.

Did you hide the relationship and the money transfers from your spouse?

Yup. I lend money and or give money to friends and family without telling my husband. We are independent people with joint and separate accounts. Knowing my husband, he's definitely given money to hard-up friends. It's not always about adultery.

IMO we never vetted his business career and his communication skills were questionable.

I will admit he was a good carnival barker.

I understand. And I am not an advocate for the popular vote in lieu of the electoral college as I fear pursuing so would polarize candidates to favor the wants of large cities over less densely populated areas. So I will continue to give you chuckles on this board and every other board we share. The bottom line is simple. Neither Romney nor Obama are worthy of my vote; I value it too much to throw it like pearls before swine. So rather than doing so, I will name another on the ballot -- so it may be counted and made public in the tally for all to see. And if enough of us follow suit, the republicans with a shred of intelligence will scratch their heads and wonder what they did to cause such rebellion. And you may well consider me a fool, and when you are done chuckling you may well curse me for costing your candidate the election. I accept your laughter and your barbs. But at the end of the day, you had better learn to choose better candidates. Because if you do not improve your game, I will not help you to win it.

Well, those are not normal marital actions, but I suppose I am not sophisticated like a New Yorker.

It doesn’t play in Peoria.

So true yet sometimes it’s like talking to a brick wall. A write in candidate would be the same as not voting at all. The Palinist and the Caininites are in love with them and feel that a vote for anyone else is an act of disloyalty or some crap. Those are the ones that will help Obama get reelected.

If Hillary Clinton were the GOP candidate, would you vote for her in order to oust Obama? Are you on the "anything but Obama" bandwagon? How great a divide exists between Mitt and Hillary? True, they belong to different country clubs and owe favors to different people. But in terms of policy, and in trust, and in representation of We the People, how much do they differ really? The "R" and "D" behind their names means little. I have no allegiance to Palin, or to Cain, as you've alluded. They simply found a seat at the forefront of America's awareness and therefore possess the greatest opportunity to express a protest vote with some measure of impact. Forcing Romney upon us is the greatest help Obama will receive in his re-election bid -- and you'll have the GOP to thank for it. But if you want to blame me, so be it. I'll take the credit. After all, in the bigger picture it would hurt the conservative cause more to see the nation further destroyed by yet another purported "conservative".

As I said, my husband has friends in NYC that I’ve never met or heard of - he’s very social. If he’s lending/giving them money, I wouldn’t know. If it came out somehow, I’d simply ask him why he gave the money. My first thought would not be adultery.

I recently lent money to a friend of mine who was having terrible financial trouble. I cut the check without bothering my husband.

We don’t know what Gloria thinks about this Ginger person. I do believe she hated the media attention and begged him to quit the race. Which, sadly, he did.

New Yorkers are like anyone else - especially we few conservative New Yorkers. Perhaps we are a bit more generous when it comes to our distressed pals.

Sorry, I don’t know if you are a man or a woman. Do you have a friend your spouse does not know about?

Too many bought into the unproven, disputed allegations made against Cain. It tells me Republicans are not scared enough for the future of this wonderful Country.

I was being snarky to your snarky post which was out of the blue!

You swoop in on a thread about a tragedy and in Texas and for no reason ping me with “I thought nothing bad ever happened in Texas”

And I respond.. “What are you? Stupid?”

You were clearly stirring shit and I slapped you for your foolishness.

I may be being a bit unfair by trying to paint NYC unfairly.

Can we agree to knock off the personal and broadbrush attacks?
