I agree with Grut here. I mean, Arpaio is doing his job - a helluva lot better than anyone else with this level of coverage. Like making prison a place that people ACTUALLY stay out of, for one.
But I too am not willing to place him on a pedestal. From a few people I know on the inside, he has a mean streak in him too. Again, it’s within the law - But he can break some balls in a way that only a sheriff can. And his department has guys who Code 3 just to get through intersections, just like another police department.
I’m not looking for it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he has SOME sort of something going on that goes against his position.
Regardless of their efforts or their results, I just can’t find it in me to idolize authority. Respect it, yes. But not idolize it. And I see that a lot of idolization occurs towards this man, including here on FR.
