From The Ron Paul Political Report, October 15 1991
American Values?
During the Iraq war, American troops were instructed to use specially equipped tanks to bulldoze the trenches that held Iraqi soldiers- Not a single American was hurt, so meager was the resistance. Thousands of Iraqis, teenagers coerced into the army by the dictator Hussein, were buried alive, while the unprecedented military tactic was hidden from the public through media censorship. Captain Benny Williams, who Led the charge was awarded the Silver Star for his role. Also hidden: the apparent fact that many of the rag-tag teenage soldiers were trying to surrender as they were entombed.
The Republicans are doing a great job of eating their own. All I see in this election is, the Republicans are dead meat. What ever excitement there was has fizzled out. You folks who are so concerned about a front runner’s experience? See my tag line. If only a dark horse candidate with fire would appear and not let the MSM destroy him/her. Where are the candidates with balls who would say to the MSM; “SO WHAT?”
I remember..
[ All I see in this election is, the Republicans are dead meat. ]
So.. your blind... eh!..
Nov. 2010 was a rehearsal... Nov. 2012 is the main event..
Cuff me Ron, but war isn’t pretty and never was. As a matter of fact, if you read history of past wars, today’s wars are relatively mild in comparison.
This came out years ago. The left made some angry chimp noises about it after Gulf War I, and then moved on to the next item on their agenda.
Post of the Thread!
How is that working out for us?
Interesting how all these articles from back when Newt was still on his first Mrs. keep popping up...
Perhaps mkjessup needs to read her history book since we did not have any mandate to go into Baghdad in ‘92 and get Saddam or to protect the Kurds in the north (as we did in Libya). mkjessup and the Left are unhappy that GWB went into Baghdad in 2004 probably, and we did have a mandate for that. mkjessup has to get her act together or she will always sound like a fool.
You noticed all that, too. I was beginning to wonder if anyone else had.
First of all n00b, I am a HE not a she, so you can take that lame juvenile attempt at an insult and shove it up your RINO-azz, you got that?
In the first Gulf War, the United States had all the tools available and all the resources necessary to have leveled Baghdad and taken out the garbage (Saddam) 11 years earlier, so don’t hand us that crap about not having a ‘mandate’ to do so, we had superior military firepower and we had ‘Stormin’ Norman’, and that is all the mandate that was necessary. Unfortunately, GHWB (like his son) failed to follow through and COMPLETE the job that he started.
Nothing new there.
You obviously don’t keep up here on FR since you’ve not been here too long, however you will find that there was no FReeper more supportive of GWB than I was, when the decision was made to liberate Iraq from Saddam and his depraved sons. So go read YOUR ‘FR History Book’ and educate yourself before you start talking out of your ass again.
And get over your gender confusion, ok Roy?
Does Jim have any strong feelings about the Congressman?
:`)
I don’t know about bulldozers being banned by the Geneva Convention.
And ron paul is guilty of treason with his aiding the enemy during the Vietnam war.
Nice, Ron.
Really nice, Ron.
The article is of course wrong about the military aspects.
The tactic of using bulldozers was not hidden from the public after the war. High ranking US officers tested the tactic from the Iraqi point of view. They positioned themselves in replicas of the Iraqi trenches, and had the tactic used against them. They determined that the Iraqi soldiers had enough time surrender, and the Iraqis would survive if they left the trench system. Soldiers who didn’t surrender were quickly killed.
I recommend you read ‘To Hell and Back’ by Audie Murphy. In WWII it was quite common for German soldiers to misrepresent their willingness to surrender, then try to distract their captors, or get them to move where others could open fire.
Surrender is a delicate business, and takes some time to accept. If you are remaining in your fire position, next to your weapons, behind cover, you are still resisting. Surrender would be to expose yourself, leave your position of cover, and separate yourself from your weapons. US officers checked to be sure that Iraqis could have survived if they had surrendered. The ones that didn’t surrender, died with their boots on.
Alas, it is true. He was my representative when I lived in Texas. He is the reason I left the Libertarian party. He surrounded himself with screwballs.
