I attended an inner-city public high school in the early 90’s.
While I was poor, my shoes came from KMart and Payless, every thug in the joint always had brand new $100 a pair shoes.
And gold teeth...

lines of people wrapped around athletic stores near Northline Mall. Sorry there has never been a product that I have waited in line for hours to buy.
Be it an iPhone or Air Jordans I will wait at home until the madness is over and then I will go to the store. (by the way I have not bought either)
I almost never buy any product until it has been on the market for about a year. I want to know it is a dependable product before I buy.
I suspect that some of these people are collectors which I find ridiculous. Basketball shoes will crumble in to dust in about fifty years even if not worn because of the material of manufacture. Why collect an object that has such a short shelf life.

Every report I've seen shows a vast majority of the buyers obviously in need of probably more important items but then of course, they always have the Government that will buy those for them.

OUR tax money being spent on $200 dollars sneakers - I am so sick of “the poor” having better more expensive items than me.

You betcha! I signed up for 6 and ended up serving 10. It took me 8 years to finish a 4 year degree due to deployments but I not only got out I got the hell out of that neighborhood.

How about we start a FRiendly pool about when we will see the first story of someone being killed in a fight with someone over a pair of these?

For every time the Lame Stream Media does the “heartless GOP” bit, the GOP needs to throw back at them the question about how many “poor” people bought the new shoes.

I had a black lady approach me in the grocery store a couple of weeks back and asked if I'd let her pay for my groceries with food stamps and give her the cash in return.
I was pretty exhausted from a long day at work and it took me off guard, but the response I gave her without even thinking about it.
I blurted, “I can't do that”. She walked around the store until she found someone.
Boy I wish I could report her.
