VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) -- A Navy tradition has caught up with the repeal of the "don't ask, don't tell" rule on gays serving openly in the U.S. military. The Navy said two women shared the coveted "first kiss" Wednesday when the USS Oak Hill returned home to its Virginia base. Marissa Gaeta of Pacerville, Calif., descended from the ship and shared a quick kiss with her partner, Citlalic (SEET-lah-leek) Snell of Los Angeles. The crowd screamed and waved Navy flags around them. Both women are fire controlmen in the Navy. They met at training school and have been dating for two years. Naval officials said it was the first time on record that a same-sex couple was chosen to kiss first upon a ship's return.

“coveted “first kiss”
I served on the USS Reeves, USS Reclaimer, USS Worden, USS Shasta, USS Mauna Kea, and USS Oldendorf, and I never heard of this “Navy tradition.”

“Homosexuality - its just partner-assisted masturbation.”
I prefer “accomplice-assisted masturbation.” I don’t want to let the sodomites steal another word.

“Oh yeah? Take a look at the responses.”
Look at my response and the men who didn’t respond.
Way too broad a brush.

Can’t remember the last time I saw an honest poll.

Well, I’ll say this. It’s not likely one of them will get knocked up and have to cut a cruise short.

My OCS class had the very first females. The ratings that are sea going didn’t have women until mid-70’s. THat is when it went to #^&*.

Women were not allowed in the Navy until after '73. So what are you talking about? Google 'Grace Hopper' (the inventor of the Cobol programming language) and get back to us on that.

By definition they are defective. So, trying to figure out why the do things may be fruitless. Interesting choice of words.

You think that the right attitude to take when you incorrectly accuse people of endorsing a perversion?

I meant Navy ships, I was in when the crap started. We used to call it WIMP - Women in the Navy Program.

True...but women were in the Navy (just not on ships) long before ‘73. That was my point.

The ratings that were
sea going and only had men were not opened up until the mid 70's to women. I don't consider medical and other shore base special duties real Navy. WWII was a different story.
But do to the "feminist" movement women started appearing on ships. Tenders first, like the Puget Sound which we renamed the Pubic Mound. By the mid to late 80's women started appearing on warships. Big mistake.
