"Worst: “And So This Is Christmas” ...John and Yoko"

Amen to that!

Actually, there are so many execrable Christmas songs it's hard for my to single one out.

As to the best, an embarrassment of riches - I like the Renaissance motets like Byrd's "O Magnum Mysterium" and Gabrielli's "Hodie Christus Natus Est". Handel's Messiah, Bach's Magnificat, and a multitude of traditional Christmas hymns and carols.

Etiam non princeps sed usque ad genua, Principis Pacis!

To your liking, you might find the Benedictine monks of Solesme collection available online. There are particular discs concerning all the seasons on the liturgical calendar. BTW, I visited your home page. I think it’s the nicest one I have seen at FR.

I have Handel’s Messiah in my “alarm clock cd player” which means i go to sleep to it and wake up to it for days on end.

I LOVE it.
