N. Korea: A Mystery Holiday Appears in 2012 Calendar(Apr. 4)

Hankyung (business newspaper) ^ | 12/14/11

This particular date has not had any significance before, let alone being a holiday. No explanation is provided on the calendar or anywhere else. Is this the day N.Korean regime will end the world? LOL.

April 15 (1912) was the birthday for Kim Il Sung, but that is a Sunday, so they will give the people an extra day on an ordinary working day. or:

On April 5, 2009 a Unha-2 carrier rocket was launched at around 02:30 hours UTC.

i.e. no idea.

PYONGYANG, North Korea (AP) — North Korea hailed Kim Jong Il’s son as “supreme leader” of the 1.2-million strong military, ramping up its campaign to install the young man as the nation’s next leader even as millions continue mourning the father a week after his death.

Now we have one Supreme leader in NK and one in Iran, both will be gone soon.

The new calender holiday April 4 is probably the day for the celebration of Qing Ming Festival:

Qing Ming Festival is a day in which Chinese families head to the graveyard and clean the tombs of their ancestors. It is interesting because it helps us understand how traditional Chinese ideas about death survive in modern China despite Mao’s efforts to eliminate them.

Do they honor this day in NK, or is this a new “old thing”? If the latter is correct then we should reread the Golden Bough.
