You are entitled to your own opinion, not your own facts. Newt was found guilty by a Republican headed ethics committee that was overwhelmingly supported by the House. Gingrich admitted his guilt and paid a $300,000 fine. The Dems say the same thing about Clinton's impeachment, i.e., it was political. At least the vast majority of Dems voted in support of Clinton. The fact that the Reps did not support their Speaker should tell you something about the charges and about their loyalty and respect for Gingrich.
Supporting someone who is flawed just because he is articulate is not the way to select a candidate. And Gingrich is no conservative. He is a Big Government Rep just like Romney. How do I know that? Because Gingrich has a voting record. He supported the Prescription Drug programs under Medicare (a $7.2 trillion unfunded liability) and rationalized it as actually saving money. He supports amnesty. He believes government has a role in countering global warming. I could go on and on.
The ethics charges against Newt were a witch hunt. Newt was found not guilty on 75 ethics charges.
Newt was found "guilty" and he admitted guilt on one charge. It was the charge of giving false information to Congress about his course donners. The false information was given on one of his paper filings to Congress. Yet Newt gave the correct information about his course donners numerous times to Congress, both on other paper filings, and during oral testimony.
Congress and you are entitled to your own opinion but you are not entitled to your own facts.
The facts show that the ethics charges were a witch hunt.
