The moment another candidate eclipses Newt in the polls, I’ll be right there with you kicking him to the curb. But until then, sadly, he’s our man.

That’s right.

The Democrats are loving this.

Newt is now getting the “treatment” that Cain got last month, which Palin got ay the start of the year. Their lust for power is insatiable, and the Establishment going all out to make sure that no outlier displaces “their”candidates.

GWB WAS a progressive republican. And we are paying for it now.

His out of control spending has had a huge negative effect on this country.

Couldn’t put it better. Some here have their blinders on in facing reality. Obama will just have to fold his arms and watch Newt self destruct.

My post 14 and Track9 are both indicating that your photo of the faux picture of Barbara is a dude or as Track9 wrote, a man. “The dude looked like a lady”.

Romney will be McCain, the sequel. I say that having voted for Romney in the Florida Primary in ‘08. I was willing then to forgive Romney’s liberal policies as Gov. of Mass. and assumed he would alter his positions if he won. Based on his strategy in this primary campaign I appreciate that the conservative base simply doesn’t want him. These are conservative times - the Tea Party gets credit for last year’s congressional elections and they will call the shots next year. Seems to me there is a lot of support building there for Newt and I am with the Tea Party on this one. Not a perfect candidate, but the best we’ve got by far.

“Full disclosure: who’s your favorite monkey?”

My favorites (Ryan, Palin, Jindal) are not in this race. I said before on FR I will vote for whoever the Rasmussen Poll shows has the best chance of beating Obama.

” A completely constitutionally conservative Republican would be treated like a green Martian who would have to spend 75% of the time explaining why he believes what he does.”

You mean like Ron Paul? His foreign policy is terrible, but he is the only strict constitutionalist in the race.

” I said it before and I will say it again Newt is not going to get the women’s vote.”

Women have always voted 60-40 democrat. Republicans have never relied on the women’s vote to win.

This poll tells us absolutely nothing. Or at least no more than a poll taken of the republican field several months ago, or even just a month ago, would have told us who’d be on top right now in the republican race. Where was Newt then? Where was Perry? Where was Cain? I know at some point Perry was on top, so was Cain. But up until a few weeks ago Newt was nowhere to be seen. Besides, what has propelled Newt to the top has been his performances in the debates. Therefore, there is no way to judge how well he would do against Obama until after they have debated one another. Furthermore, let’s not forget that Newt is NOT running for president at the moment. He is solely focused on winning the republican nomination. Obviously if he becomes the nominee his strategy will subsequently change (and that goes for everyone else too).

Since Perry already self destructed, we'll just have to wait and see what Newt does, right?

In the meantime, don't get your hopes up, cause as soon as you do, Perry will say something really dumb again (or forget what he meant to say).
