MSNBC's Chris Matthews on Wednesday apologized for his network's "appalling lack of judgment" in comparing a Mitt Romney campaign slogan to the Ku Klux Klan. The Hardball host conceded, "It was irresponsible and incendiary of us to do this, and it showed an appalling lack of judgment. We apologize. We really do, to the Romney campaign." [See video below. I thought “appalling lack of judgment” was MSNBC’s official motto.

Matthews apologized? That’s a shock. Did he look drunk on the air?

I am shocked that MSNBC, of all stations, issued an apology (especially through Matthews). This tells me either 1) their information was wrong and they were threatened with a massive defamation lawsuit, or 2) they were flooded with angry calls and emails.
Again, very out of character.

There is not a better matchup on TV than Crissy (AKA Larry Sinclair) and MSNBC.

Keeping Matthews on the air is more strong evidence of their “Appalling Lack of Judgment”. When are they going to apologize for that, and take steps to correct it?

Reading between the lines here, I think that MSNBC is still hoping that Mitt will be the nominee because by whatever calculus they are using, they think he will be easier for Obama to beat than Newt (or anyone else running).
If that’s the case, the only rule Chrissy broke was trash-talking Mittens before he was nominated. Once (God Forbid) he becomes the sole target, the long knives will come out.
