Believe me, I have been all over Europe and particularly Italy and France, the enjoyment of the simple things in life are evident everyday. That being said, many of the Eurozone countries have nothing in common with Germany, France and the UK beyond geography. It would be akin to the Cayman Islands forming a relationship and hooking their economic future and fortune to Haiti. The Euro was created in a Kumbaya spirit, but based on the wide variances in education, structure, economic and political philosophy, societal expectations and historical reliance on government, it was doomed to fail eventually. The Germans are like a spouse trying to save a very bad marriage for the sake of the kids.

You are right Friend Festusbanjo, my only correction would be to say it’s a very bad **gay** marriage because - well - where are the kids?

To be more scientific let’s just say that “anthropologically” we’re too different and whereas some integration was fine, necessary and even physiological, this MASHING (which at the time I myself favored) was a mistake. That’s why I say that these meetings should be about undoing - CTRL-Z - and not about deepening the misery.

Mistakes happen... in fact, much of politics is a lesson in unintended consequences. Look at what welfare did to the blacks of the USA. Or consider multi-culturalism.
