Good commentary, Jim. I have been saying much the same thing about Newt. Any objective look at his record of real conservative accomplishments as Speaker put's the lie to the "RINO" claim--of course, of late the word RINO has been thrown around so much on this forum as to have become meaningless.

As far as I can tell these days, "RINO" means "someone I don't like" or "someone I don't agree with on 1 or 2 issues."

I too came to Newt in a round about way Bachmann=>Cain=>Perry=>Newt, as the flaws of each one became inescapable. I would still vote for Perry like a shot, but I doubt he can rebound and I am not certain that Newt isn't the better choice anyway.

Thanks for posting this. Maybe it will give the Newt-bashers a moment of pause to see your name on it.

The whole field of GOP contenders are flailing around. Perry was a huge disappointment. Many I liked didn’t run. Then there were the majority who just lit no fires anywhere near enough to get the nomination. Cain was dragged behind the liberal MSM limos and destroyed. In the end, it’s “anybody but Obama” for me. Newt fits the bill. (shudder) Jim is right. Once upon a time he led a conservative revolution in DC....he could do it again.
