I just joined Newt’s effort here in Iowa.

For almost exactly the reasons you just stated. And if you’d have asked me 6 months ago? I would have said NEVER. I too, was with the Organize for Palin effort and prayed she would run. But, you are correct, we MUST stop Romney and we MUST beat Obama.

Completely agree with you, Jim.
Saw Josh P’s tweet re your defense of Newt. I haven’t been back here since mid Oct because it seemed like a lot had gone off the deep end after Sarah declined. FreeRepublic had turned into one big fight site! Didn’t notice a lot of productive discussion.

I’ll start checking back in with ya.

I’m inclined to agree with Jim. The lamestream media narrative has always been “well, Obama’s policies have failed, but he’s such a brilliant, brilliant man that you need to have faith in him.” I think against Newt, they won’t be able to hold together that narrative, and by the debates, they’ll have to abandon it altogether or spin like a nuclear-powered loom.

I think the LSM hammered into the brains of most independents that the concept that affairs should have no bearing on Presidential figures during the Lewinsky scandal (and even misled many people that he was being impeached because of the affair, not perjury and subordination to commit perjury), so they’ll have a difficult time reversing that position now to try to save Obama with Newt’s “baggage.” It will just get people thinking about Clinton, and Newt’s record of accomplishment during that same time period.

I think Newt would win, and I think he’d make a pretty good President. No Reagan, but better than the Bushes. Certainly infinitely better than Obozo.

All this talk of Teddy Roosevelt this week made me think of one of TR's famous quotes,

Turns out his depth of knowledge and experience in government affairs both domestic and foreign and his experience with Ronald Reagan, the Reagan Revolution and the Republican Revolution of the 90’s are quite extensive and quite impressive if you look.


That was never in question for those who have kept up with such things. I am more concerned with his actions since leaving Congress.

I appreciate your article, I agree with your conclusions. I hope it’s not against the rules but I sent it to everyone on my e-mail and again encouraged them to visit your site. As I’ve said before America needs an advocate and I believe that Newt will be our advocate.

Not much choice choosing between Gingrich and Romney, but if I have to choose it will be Romney. Down deep in my gut Gingrich is not to be trusted, even less than Romney!

Only Rick Perry gets my vote in the Primary, imo he is the only conservative. I love his Plans and his record is fantastic. I can't stand Romney there is no way. And Newt's baggage has baggage.

So Perry for me, Perry/ Palin I would love more then anything.

As far as the General I pray it will be Rick Perry but if not God help us all and America. I have no idea who it would be and am terrified to even think that far ahead.

I just got back from New Hampshire, to campaign for NEWT.

And several candidates have a great chance to finish ahead of ROMNEY in Iowa. I hear people talk about who they plan to vote for in their primary in April, but ...

The opportunity is now. WHy are people so reluctant to travel a few hours on the weekend and campaign? And you can really do quite much sitting at home calling a state.

Few are really participating in the process. We are all pundits now.

There are lots of problems with Newt. But they are not nearly as large or as structural as the problems with Mitt.
And he can do the job. Newt with a good VP will help a lot.
