There hasn’t been a truly brokered convention since the 1940s I believe.

Not a brokered national convention, but I've been to enough county, district and state conventions that I can guess.

Picture a three-ring circus, with monkeys in charge, lions on the loose, the tent on fire, and the clowns all wanting their turn at the microphone.

I was at the DEM brokered convention in 1852. As I was a Marcy supporter, I was not pleased with the outcome.
