House on Collision Course With Obama Over Payroll Tax Cut, as Senate Bills Fail (GOP to offer plan)

House Republicans are on a collision course with the White House and potentially the Senate over an emerging proposal to extend the payroll tax cut, teeing up a protracted debate that could keep lawmakers in Washington for the holidays as they try to avert a Jan. 1 tax increase.

The Senate on Thursday afternoon rejected rival Democratic and GOP plans for extending the cut. The failure was expected, cueing the House to step in with a new plan.

Details of that proposal, expected to be unveiled in full on Friday, suggest its Republican authors are preparing for a showdown with President Obama. The bill includes a controversial provision to move along the construction of an oil pipeline from Canada to Texas -- the Obama administration recently put that project on hold until after the 2012 election, citing environmental and safety concerns.

"Whatever happened to Republicans being for tax cuts?"

Whatever happened to Democrats being for jobs?

The Republicans need to put a proposed Extension on the Payroll Tax Cut, paid for by cuts in handouts the Democrats put in place to drive up the debt when they had TOTAL CONTROL from 2008-2010.

Deem the Republican proposal "Passed", as they did with Obamacare, and let the Dem's veto the "Payroll Tax Extension".

Put the ball in THEIR court. (The State-Run-Media will blame Republicans, no matter WHAT you do, so go for the throat)

I want to see the Senate Rats and Obama reject it. The Rats are going to lose no matter what they do.
Not that I'm in the business of advising Rats but they really should pass the GOP proposal because for them it would be better to alienate the eco-idiots than the unions.

As mentioned by a caller to Rush..

Any reduction in payments to SS will lead to a reduction in pay outs of SS when it’s time to collect.

1) The dims have played “politics” since they lost... with every single issue that has hit DC. The Super Committee as example. Their idiot drooling supporters actually buy their lies about “doing the right thing”.

2) DC is a corrupt cess pool of greed. The republicans know obama will not be forced to sign off on this pipeline... he can't afford to piss off the ecofreaks... he can't kill it definitely because he would lose the energy company ca$h... and yes... Rush says that these companies are still donating to obama... hoping to buy his support for the pipeline after the election. The energy sector knows obama will not sign this now... boehner knows this... so they too play “politics” in an election year. obama wins again because he will just blame this failure on a “do nothing” Congress and further entrench this lie into THE truth.

3) What the republicans should do is find the savings or cuts to fund this extension and that can be done. There is enough money being wasted and duplicated in spending to easily find non confrontational savings. Pass a clean bill extending the reductions and pay for them with spending cuts.

obama will never agree but this move will screw the dims in an election year... and it destroys obama’s lie of a “do nothing” Congress... and they can start painting the dims as the deceiving, lying, immoral socialist bastards that they are... but oh nooooooo... boehner the bone head and and rnc chair pleazleavus plebieus parasite... whatever his name is BOTH want to take the high road... no fighting back... no attacking obama... no offending the obamas... new tone bullsh!t! Yeah... that worked GREAT in 2006. We have NO representation in Washington... want to know why? Because we are not members of Congress and that is the only Americans that count when it comes to governing America.

I’m glad to see that someone is on a collision course with the White house and the Harry Reid run Senate! Lord knows they need to be!
