Thank you! Why is no one seeing that Romney's support has not grown! He is an extremely vulnerable candidate - most people do not like him. You are right, get that fear out of the way - and then people can give other candidates another look. This is our big chance - why settle?

The problem with your analysis is that you assume everyone could settle on another candidate. That assumptions not true.
You consider Newt unacceptable; OK.
I would be OK with Perry or Santorum, but I would have serious reservations about Bachmann--just as serious as your reservations about Gingrich.
I'm sure there are some people that would have serious reservations about Perry or Santorum also that would make them uacceptable to them.
The point is, every candidate, even the "true conservative ones" is going to be unaccpetable to some voters.
