I’m amazed at the number of Trump fans within FR. The guy exudes all the sincerity of a scene from a reality show. I hope as each of these candidates make their trek up the mountain to see His Donaldness and beg for his endorsement, they keep in the back of their minds he’s sizing them up for a possible run against them on a third-party ticket.

The one thing that motivates Trump more than self-worship is $$$$$$. A sweet enough offer from the dark side might put him on the field in 2012, guaranteeing (by design) an Obama reelection.

I don’t trust Trump... never have and never will.

Good for Perry, Trump is a showboating RINO and no friend of conservatives.

I am fine with Rick Perry's decision. He does not need to do the circus that Trump brings to everything he does.

Rick Perry the ONLY conservative running for President.

I’m happy with that decision. I think some people think this was a Trump Vanity Debate. I don’t know. Could be. I’m reading a few positive things here and there. Perry scores very high positives with voters who had served in the miltary. He scores very high positives among Christian voters.
He’s working hard to get back the respect of his base. It was always there, he just lost the position when Cain was making so much noise. I’ve got to tell you, if people are flocking to Gingrich (and Palin is close to endorsing him) we’ve been played by the Tea Party and Independents. Gingrich? Do we have anyone else in moth balls?

Trump's political donations show quite a mix (more D than R).

That Trump is a guy with a firm philosophy... just have to think of "firm" in a different way...

Perry writing a letter of refusal to appear at the Trump debate. Those who refuse this debate are committing hari-kari, aka seppuku, or for women: jigai.

Perry knows that he always looks bad in live situations, so no surprise.

He may be making a big mistake though; Trump is looking for his magic candidate, since the golden girl slipped the noose. He obviously doesn’t want Noot or Mutt, or there would be no need for the show.

Too bad.

Perry looked good for a moment again, but his
cowering, and fear again, show his links
to Karl Rove.

Goodbye, Gov. Perry.

More and more people are finally wising up to Trump’s agenda.

Let’s take a look back more than a half a year ago when he was claiming glory for forcing the President of the United States to release his long form birth certicate.

Here are some of his glory filled quotes:

[Donald Trump 2011 Well, Donald Trump certainly seems to be proud of himself now that President Barack Obama has produced a long-form birth certificate. He basically said so himself today.

Speaking at a press conference in New Hampshire, Trump said he’s “proud” of the new disclosure. He added, however, “it is rather amazing that all of the sudden” the birth certificate surfaced.

He thinks it should be examined to ensure its authenticity.]

Today, the potential presidential candidate had no problem taking credit for the White House’s decision to produce Obama birth certificate.

[“I am really honored to play such a big role in hopefully, hopefully getting rid of this issue,” he said.]

[“Today I’m very proud of myself, because I’ve accomplished something that no one else has been able to accomplish,” said Trump. “I want to look at it, but I hope it’s true. … Mr. Trump claimed credit for forcing Mr. Obama’s hand, saying, “I feel I’ve accomplished something really, really important.” But he said the document released Wednesday would have to be examined for authenticity.]

[“I hope it’s the right deal,” he said. “We have to look at it. A lot of people have to look at it. I hope it’s true, and the reason I hope it’s true is because we have real problems in this country.”l’d have done it a long time ago.”

Trump was pleased that Obama finally released the birth certificate, patted himself on the back for making it happen, and then aired his doubts.

“I want to look at it… We have to look at it. Is it real? Is it proper? What’s on it?,” said Trump.]

Since he claims that he effectively has put the ‘birth certificate issue’ to bed with his vast and depth investigation of the president...why is he rehashing the whole thing today?

He added the caveats...”We have to look at it”...”What’s on it?”.

OK Trump, what IS on it? You and your top notch team of investigators have had more than half a year to go over this document. What is your outcome? Is it real?

The plain answer to those questions is, he took all his glory, dropped the whole thing and ran away from the whole controversy.

Until now.

Today he is AGAIN making noise of running for the office of president and AGAIN bringing up the birth issue.

It should give everyone pause to reflect on his intent.

It wasn’t mentioned at the link...I know Romney has also declined.

Has Newt accepted and have any of the others formally accepted or declined?

I have no problem with Perry declining, especially since it looks like he’s booked with other campaign events. I’m jsut curious as to how enthusiastic the other candidates are about this.

Thomas Jefferson has written about Debates. He hated them, seldom participated, yet he was quite possibly the most intelligent man on the planet at the time. In view of that, I’m not jumping all over Rick Perry. Look at how successful he’s been in Texas. It’s something to THINK about!!!

Trump's a clown. I wouldn't line up for my pie in the face either. A little dignity for the office Perry is striving for isn't a bad thing.

Besides, if this debate ends up losing money, Trump will walk away and leave the candidates to deal with the catering bill and the angry, unpaid union goons. That's how The Donald rolls.

I’m sure he and his team had serious conversations before making this decision. I hope it doesn’t hurt him more.

Trump can showboat and that can’t help, but face time could if he put in a good performance. So....it’s kind of a toss-up.
