It is a helluva statement and pretty much dead-on accurate.
Bachmann had her shot. Perry his. Cain his.
No one's going for Huntsman, Paul or Santorum. And three quarters are looking for the non-Romney.
That leaves Newt.
If Perry had been half the debater of Newt, he'd be it, but this was not a race he was prepared for nor seemed keen on.

That's a helluva statement about the current condition of the GOP. Maybe but I believe it to be accurate. Newt is surging not because he is the most qualified candidate in the race, far from it in actuality but more of the 'last man standing' by happenstance. Sad, truly sad. To me it goes to show how bad (as in pathetic) things are in the Republican Party today. How low it has sunk.
