Same here. Dad broke hip at age 88. I rushed over and he was crying, one of the few times he ever cried that I saw. This made me cry. He had titanium pins inserted. The OR nurse was so funny she was knocking Orin Hatch for some reason calling him gay. They allowed me in the operating room and I watched part of the operation first hand. Dad did OK and lived to 94 which is my goal. My minimum goal.
I got to Daddy’s house around 8 in the morning. He had apparently got up during the night to go to the bathroom and had fallen and lay there for several hours.
When I asked him what was wrong, he said he was down on the carpet checking to see if it was damaged. I tried to help him up but it was obvious he was in great pain.
The paramedics were great. They managed to get a blanket under him and get him onto one of those collapsing stretchers without his complaining at all.
Two months ago, my Dr. did a bone density test and said I need to be really careful as my bones were a bit brittle. He did give me several prescriptions and I am going to be extremely careful not to fall.
That is probably a good idea for any of our fellow freepers who are getting up in age.
Be very careful not to fall!
