MP Boutros Harb on Tuesday said that if the Syrian embassy in Beirut is involved in the abduction of Syrian nationals in Lebanon, "then it should be shut down."
Harb also said in an interview with MTV that the Foreign Affairs Ministry should summon Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdul Karim Ali to question him on the abductions of Syrian nationals and the allegations blaming the Syrian embassy for involvement in the kidnappings.
Earlier this year, Syrian nationals Jassem Merii al-Jassem and his three brothers Chedid, Ahmad and Ali were reportedly abducted in Lebanon, while former Syrian Baath Party official Shibli al-Ayssami disappeared in mysterious circumstances on May 24.
Al-Jumhuriya newspaper reported October 11 that Internal Security Forces Director General Achraf Rifi told the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee that "Lebanese security forces assigned to protect the Syrian embassy in Lebanon kidnapped four [dissident] Syrians using embassy vehicles."
Harb also said that "the only group in the world which supports the Syrian regime today is the Lebanese government," in reference to Lebanon's diplomatic support for Syria in the UN and Arab League.
The MP slammed Lebanon's stance at the Arab League to disassociate itself from the vote to sanction Syria.
"The Lebanese government cannot [act as a] bystander regarding the Syrian events, or embrace the policy of disassociation," Harb said.
"The policy of disassociation is a new diplomatic term."
The government will continue "because the Syrian regime [needs it to maintain to its survival] at present," he also said.
Harb added that the March 14 alliance "does not want to disarm Hezbollah," and instead wants the party's arms to be put under the control of the Lebanese army.

Gee, what are the odds. Of either?
Oh really! Only if the Syrians are involved? What a joke!
We will do what we need to do depending upon World pressure, World attitude, and little to do with whatever it has to do with the US. That is what has become of our status and of course the appropriate actions.
