LINCOLN After months of saying he had no interest whatsoever in running for U.S. Senate, the state's top Republican, Gov. Dave Heineman, indicated Tuesday that he's reconsidering.
Heineman, at a morning press conference on another issue, said he recently had been contacted by national GOP leaders, including Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, urging the governor to join the race against Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb.
Heineman said they reinforced the essential importance of capturing the Nebraska seat for the GOP as part of the Republican effort to gain a majority in the U.S. Senate.

I’m all for dumping Nelson.
But I would not hold my breath in the GOP wins the majority in the Senate. Been, done that.

Attorney General Bruning {the 1st to file against Obama-care} is already in the race against Ben Nelson. Bruning has been attending TeaParty events from their inception.
