Newt is a converter. He can take Marxist approaches to problem solving and twist those approaches into a pretzel suitable for a conservative outcome, and solve the problem. Conservatives have been framed as devoid of giving a rip whether the poor and destitute even have healthcare, outside of the bus station approach offered by modern emergency rooms providing endless wait times and plenty of chaos. The result is soaring healthcare costs.

Newt is unafraid to address the Marxist framed debate raging against us, and stare down the facts at hand. What other candidate gives a rip that something does have to give on treating the poor? We are increasing the number of poor and one way or the other some Republicans are about to be among that increasing number.

In 2011, he said, “I think that there are ways to do it [paying for healthcare] that make most libertarians relatively happy. I’ve said consistently we ought to have some requirement to either have health insurance or you post a bond or in some way you indicate you are going to be held accountable.”

I hate the current mandate but I find the idea of letting people post a bond so that the rest of us won't be on the hook for them should they need expensive care sort of intriguing. Freeloading *is* a problem.
