I’m not a progressive. Supporting Theodore Roosevelt does not require a person to be a progressive.
Maybe, but calling him a hero...

When you used Hitler as your example, I guess to prove that a great patriot like TR could be evil evil, I have no idea what you are.
You dont think Eugenics is evil evil? How about infecting our once small govt with the notion that it has the right to dicate what a man does with his income? How about the litany of BS that man infected the govt with?

My guess is you are a bitter person who can’t stand any republican or conservative who doesn’t agree with every detail of your brand of pure blooded conservatism.
Not a very good guess. pure blooded? LOL, hell I just want one characteristic. You prolly think George Bush was a conservative.

I say that because I have run across many, and had to listen to them spit out through gritted teeth how they don’t care if they elect the ultra liberal democrat they will never vote for that *%^^##*** republican. So have fun.

Lemme pull an au contraire on ya. I'm sorry but not voting for a big govt progressive 'R' doesn't equal voting for a big govt progressive 'D'. However, you can actually, and logically say that voting for a big govt progressive 'R' is the same as voting for the big govt progressive 'D' - minus the tax cut. You have fun with that.

No I’m sorry you are wrong in many respects. First, Teddy Roosevelt was a real life hero in battle and in other aspects of his life and as president.

“Conservatives” elect liberal democrats by staying home or wasting third party votes. Whether or not you vote for Obama, if your rejection even of Newt Gingrich or whoever puts Obama in office, you have nonetheless helped elect a horrible out and out leftist.

Teddy Roosevelt lived in a different age and his version of flirting with the then new idea of eugenics was not the same evil as what the nazis later did with it. Or maybe you want to join the George Washington was evil crowd (and George Washington was a great hero) because he damn well owned slaves and I’d say that is a greater evil than mistakenly thinking eugenics was a good idea.

As to the income tax, Woodrow Wilson signed that into law. WW did a lot of other bad things.

In that particular election, it was Teddy Roosevelt’s one great sin, the sin you don’t bother to mention. He ran against Taft as a third party and doomed the republican’s reelection out of his own inflated sense of ego and ideological purity. That is exactly what people threaten to do on here every single day, and it brings the real evils of a Woodrow Wilson (who by the way was an ugly racist) into our lives, and oddly you focus on TR or Gingrich, but not on the greater threat of WW or Obama.

Give it a thought but you probably won’t, because I have seen this many times and it’s like trying to convince TR not to run as a third party. But then by your logic, you must support TR on that decision and you don’t care that WW was elected.
