Rogue noun: a deceitful and unreliable scoundrel.
Rouge noun: makeup consisting of a pink or red powder applied to the cheeks.
It puts an amusing complexion to the phrase, “...a misguided adventure involving a couple of rouge officers behaving badly way out west.”
West coast, maybe.

Typos can happen to anyone and since rouge is not a misspelled word it's hard to catch even with a spellchecker.
The only thing, they both sound different
