Harry Potter and the Islamization of America
American Thinker ^ | 12/4/11 | William A. Levinson

The success of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series is due largely to the fact that the story contains elements for sophisticated adults as well as teenagers. The latter can enjoy the magical creatures and battles between wizards, while older readers and viewers can relate to the very real historical events that apparently influenced Rowling's writing. The series' theme is anything but fictional because it happened once and it is happening again.

...Dolores Umbridge is among the more memorable villains of the series. She threatens to punish any student who talks about Voldemort, and she punishes Harry Potter for insisting that he has returned. Umbridge's real-world counterparts abound in European countries, universities, and even the U.S. Government. They punish or ridicule as an "Islamophobe" anybody who depicts militant Islam as a menace to Civilization. Danish Member of Parliament Jesper Langaballe for example pled guilty to hate speech for saying accurately that rape and honor killings are frequent among Muslim families. "Under Danish jurisprudence it is immaterial whether a statement is true or untrue. All that is needed for a conviction is that somebody feels offended."

That’s not all she shamelessly copies from Lord of the Ring.

If I could earn a billion dollars writing a book series that "shamelessly" copies ideas from another successful book series, sign me up.

Fact is however, neither I or most anybody else has the talent to take something old and make it new again for a new generation. There should be no shame in having the talent to do so.

If Beethoven worried about copying ideas from Mozart, nobody would know who he was today.

Nagini was venomous, while the snake in the zoo was a boa.

Nicely done!

Not all HP readers are children though. I first read HP as a junior in college. My mom is also an HP fan. My point is that so many YA books are filled with sex, drugs, and alcohol and HP is not. Some girls wanted to start a book club at my school and I sponsored it. We did not meet for almost three months because they kept picking inappropriate (for school) books. I started searching for YA books and was floored and saddened by the choices! Let me set up the basic plot line of most new YA books: Very smart and very pretty girl who does not realize she is very smart and very pretty meets very smart and very handsome boy who does know that he is smart and handsome. Boy is also very mysterious and also somehow immortal (or a gangbanger from the other side of the tracks who is attracted to captain of the cheering squad). Their love is forbidden but they make it work - insert soft-core porn here - and everybody gets what they want in the end. Teen girls are swooning over this crap, and I call it that not because there is sex in it but because it is so poorly written. However, they are enticed by the soft-core porn that HP does not have.

I've wondered if, in applying the Nazi allegory, that Umbridge and the others weren't like the Nazis that escaped to South America.

Sounds a lot like the formulaic "romance novels" their moms probably read.
