Obama Ambassador Under Fire For Blaming Israel For Muslim Anti-Semitism December 04, 2011
Republicans are urging President Obama to reconsider his ambassador to Belgium after the ambassador told a conference in Europe that Israel is causing a new and understandable strain of anti-Semitism among Muslims in Europe, altogether separate from traditional hatred of Jews.
Speaking to the European Jewish Union and an association of Jewish lawyers in Brussels, Ambassador Howard Gutman said a distinction should be made between traditional anti-Semitism, which is the purview of people who hate everyone and not just Jews, and Arab and Muslim hatred for Jews, which can be explained by an inability to reach a two-state solution in Israel.
"There is significant anger and resentment and, yes, perhaps sometimes hatred and indeed sometimes an all too growing intimidation and violence directed at Jews generally as a result of the continuing tensions between Israel and the Palestinian territories and other Arab neighbors in the Middle East," Gutman told the group, according to a transcript of his remarks published in the European Jewish Press.
Gutman, who is Jewish and described how his father survived the Nazi occupation of Poland, also shared a video of himself receiving a warm welcome at a Muslim school in Brussels, and said it showed proof that Muslims are not anti-Semitic in general.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper in Israel reported that Gutman's distinction of Muslim hatred toward Jews and "classic bigotry" stunned the audience. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said Obama "must fire" Gutman for "rationalizing and downplaying anti-Semitism and linking it to Israeli policy toward the Palestinians."

Glad to see the Ambassador is getting some publicity. The real question, and it's not a problem confined to democrat administrations, is why someone so ill qualified becomes an Ambassador. Prominent lawyer, big fundraiser, doesn't qualify an Ambassador any more than community orgnizer leads to a successful President. True, State screws up a lot too, and isn't frienly to Israel. But my guess most professional diplomats stationed in Belgium would have the sense not to pontificate on a problem involving nations larger than Belgium and far, far away. If his concern was Jew and Christian hating Muslims in the low country, probably none of his business, other than criticizing them. Not taking their side.

Yup, at some point conservatives are going to figure out the Jewish vote is never, ever going to come our way. Jews are, by and large, people of the left. I think at least one reason they love big, intrusive government is because they believe it stops them from being persecuted.
What is frustrating is that I have some colleagues that are conservative minded Palestinians and Jordanians (on economic and social issues). They constantly joke about how Republicans do everything on earth to protect Israel, yet American Jews don't reward them for it at all. Heck, Obama is about as bad as it gets when it comes to defending Israel, yet something like 75% of Jews voted for him - and will again.

You are mistaken. Just like RINOs we have CINOs. relax. No one is “blaming” the Jews. We need to know why Jews as a bloc (just like Afro-Americans and Hispanics and Gays) voted overwhelmingly Democratic. At least the Afro-Americans (big government) and Hispanics (illegals’ constituency) have reasons. Israel and the Jews get kicked up their ass by Obama and they still pull the lever for him.
