The smile is more directed to Karl Rove and the other GOP elites whose heads would explode as their candidate receives fewer votes than Ron Paul. One way or the other, they are going to get the message that the Tea Party is not the party of country club elitists.

Gotcha. Well, the thing about Ron Paul is I love almost precisely 50% of what he has to say. The problem is, when it comes to foreign and defense policy I disagree with him almost entirely. I just don't think he even remotely understands the threat of Islamic radicalism, and I think his worldview is overly simplistic and naive. This is coming from someone who lived in Asia and saw first hand Muslim violence which is clearly unconnected to Israel or the US.

Saying that, I appreciate his consistency at least. He is not afraid to say what he thinks no matter how politically incorrect it may be. I will give him credit for that.

Still, I can't support Paul no matter how amusing it might be to see him beat out Romney the chameleon. Yes, I will vote for him over Obama (which is more than I can say for many/most Paul supporters who will end up voting 3rd party or for Hussein since Paul won't be the nominee), but I wouldn't be smiling.
