Cain to End Candidacy Tomorrow? (Major Announcement tomorrow.)
Big Government ^

Posted on 12/02/2011 11:35:32 AM PST by sunmars

Embattled presidential candidate Herman Cain is inviting his top supporters and donors to Atlanta on Saturday for a meeting in which he will give them advance word of whether he intends to continue his campaign, sources close to the campaign said Friday.

One supporter who has been summoned to the private session said he believes that Cain is likely to announce he is ending his candidacy.

Another who has been invited to the morning meeting says attendees have been told he has made no decision, but wanted to meet with some of the supporters to express his gratitude.

Several sources indicated that Cain is likely to announce his plans publicly at a news conference after the meeting. Cain had already scheduled an event on Saturday — the grand opening of his national headquarters in his hometown of Atlanta, as well as the announcement of his campaign’s freshly minted senior leadership team for the state of Georgia.

Perhaps next time a little less emotional attachment to your candidate and the let-down wont be as painful. Just a thought.

So your solution is to pick a candidate offering you little cause for attachment? Like who? Is Romney emotionally distant enough for you? There is no love lost there at all. Sounds like bad advice to me. How about we pick the *best* candidate -- not the one the media would have us believe is the only one electable -- of the candidates available and actually try sticking with that candidate for a change? Is Perry, Gingrich, Romney, or Huntsman more conservative than Cain? more of a Washington outsider? more successful in business? more willing to redesign the IRS? How about less susceptible to climate change hooey? Less amenable to illegal immigrant amnesty? Less inclined to continue health care mandates? Clearly they *all* pale in comparison to Cain in all these arenas? So why on Earth waste any further time with them?

” First you guys want an outsider, a non politician, you get one and than you are down on him because he doesn’t respond like a politician, he responds like a regular non political type would. “

That just doesn't cut it; that's an excuse. The guy is a pastor and he has been writing checks and hanging out with a woman without his wife's knowledge.

Many people know of Billy Graham's rule of never even being alone with another woman; based on how it could appear. Cain didn't need to go that far; but he went way too far based on just what he has said himself.

Cain’s campaign unraveled not over allegations, it ended when he flubbed softball questions on Libya, then on Cuba.. The accusations and handling of them did show ineptitude, but had he not flubbed the important stuff he likely would have gone on a little longer.

He repeatedly screwed up, then blamed others for it, even to the point of demanding no cameras ??? Really? You are running for President and you can’t handle being filmed?

Sorry, but his campaign ended in the debates, and flubbing absolute softball questions and then his reactions to those flubs afterwards.

I like the guy, but he’s not remotely ready for prime time.. the impropriety allegations, and more importantly his handling of them just reinforced a pattern he’d already shown in his flubs in other areas.

The allegations are juicy fodder for the press and public, but his campaign effectively ended over his ineptitude not where or not his penis landed.

Great points, but I’m not going to launch into a theological discussion here. What I’m saying is.. in this day and age, one has to be ready to fully account for his/her actions, and be ready to substantiate what, where and when.

Of course, when someone is battered and bloodied, the proper thing is to help... but this wasn’t the case. I don’t believe Cain is guilty of sexual harassment or even the purported affair... but he should have never placed himself in a position in which he could be accused of wrongdoing.

Thus, my comment about this being a cautionary tale.

If I were Cain, I would leak a story that I was quitting, then go to the podium with Gloria, have her hold my hand in the air, and have HER yell "The Cain train is still on the track!" It would stun the nation, and re-energize his campaign.

Why the hell should he drop out? There hasn't been anything proven against the guy. Meanwhile, Clinton was ON TAPE teling Flowers to "deny" their affair, and still placed 2nd in NH, and won the Presidency - and left us with 8 years of disastrous judges, such as Susan Bolton, who took down Arizona's SB1070, and hundreds more to undermine our constitution. Ted Kennedy basically KILLED a staffer he slept with, and may have impregnated, and still won his Senate race as the media covered it up. Obama was a racist, commie cokehead...and none of it was reported. Meanwhile our guys jaywalk - and have to leave the race. WHY?

And don't give me this "betrayed his oath to his wife", etc., if you plan on supporting Newt. Don't even go there.

What does surprise me is that everyone who is dropping their support for Cain for his possible affair is moving to Newt who definitely had one.

That is really an excellent, salient point.

If the Sanctity of Marriage is your issue, Newt is not your guy.

Well..if you are right..then he’s gone and hey I’m a fool for supporting the GOP. That’s fine.

What some don’t seem to understand is..first Palin, now Cain. What did they have in common? They were conservatives..no one ever accused them of being rhinos. Is it so danged scary to have a conservative to butt heads with?

IF you were a conservative..would you be upset that none of your candidates can escape this kind of treatment? No? Okay. Just ignore my posts..cause you and I are not going to agree about Cain, the GOP or the other candidates..and that’s okay..that’s why America is supposedly free.

When it’s your candidate..who ever that might be..I assure you that I will not pile on him or her while they are down. And if it smells like the media or GOP elite have gone after them unfairly..you can know that I will be as vocal about that.

Just sayin’..if you Cain haters were thinking people..you might want to keep it civil..I assume Cain supporters are supposed to move on and vote for someone.

I’m concerned that Newt might have new bimbos waiting to erupt that we aren’t aware of yet.

The other part of the Fall of Cain was the fact that he had NO political record to fall back on. He was literally a candidate about nothing but what he said. When that started crumbling, he couldn’t say “Hey, remember when I voted to ...” All he had was 999 and other trite sayings.

I guess that Newt is preferred to Cain because he had the good sense to stay out of the political spotlight until his history was history, and not last summer’s secret. If even half of the Cain allegations are true then one would have to question his good judgement and the size of his ego to think he would not be outed. Also, Newt would probably have knocked a Libya question out of the park. Is Cain’s knowledge of history so weak that he has no memory of all the other sex based political problems, especially for those who profess superior religious/moral standards and then are found wanting?

Honestly, I’ve found both Cain and Bachmann to be a little too eager to exploit any little thing they can find. I understand the compulsion - hey, you’re trying to get noticed. But I don’t like Bachmann jumping on like a little yap dog when somebody makes a faux pas. And I don’t like Cain doing the same thing - like when he popped off about Perry and “N\66erh3ad”.

You can slam whoever you want for reasons you want to and join the masses who are. I was simply pointing out that the cry of hypocrisy was misplaced.

And in our society, rightly or wrongly, we consider the passage of time since a dalliance as significant. Thus, if Newt were having an affair NOW it would indeed hurt him....and that’s why Cain’s issue with Ginger whatshername - whether it is an affair or not - is hurting him BECAUSE IT IS CURRENT.

I am not defending it, but if you want to believe the passage of time is not relevant, go ahead and delude yourself.

Like I said, I would vote for Newt or Cain in a minute happily.

WOW..I don’t know anybody that can stand up next to Billy Graham and look good. I’m just sayin’..I don’t know of anyone that perfect and you don’t either.

IF he did something wrong..it’s gonna come out. I thought it was the “Christian way” to not give false witness and to be fair.

Excellent post.

If Cain dares to come and fight tomorrow for us and for the nation, I will send him a big donation! Even if he admits to sleeping with 120 bimbos. I don’t care. Better that then Obama, newt, or mitt. Two of which don’t stay faithful to their wives either.

That’s ridiculous. Perry is the only one of the bunch with adequate credentials to be President, which I hope by now we realize not any idiot can do, (your point). Romney has 4 and out as governor in which he did some very suspect things. Perry has over a decade, and while yes, he has made his blunders, overall he’s the best man for the job.

True. And it that is your issue, you aren’t paying attention to the realities of 2011-2012. We have a President in office now who apparently follows that - and we have a couple of candidates who do also - and they are the two most liberal of the bunch.

I’m all for the sanctity of marriage - practice it myself - and prefer it in a candidate. HOWEVER - I am more interested in a government who gives me the freedom to practice my marriage and my life how I see fit and how they do it is between them and God.

Wake up. We’re not electing a preacher or a moral leader.

Sorry, I know you supported the guy, and it stinks when the guy you supported gets washed out, but you need to stop.

MSM nor Axlerod took out Cain, nor did Obama, or anyone else.

CAIN took out CAIN.

Axelrod didn’t make Cain flub horribly softball policy questions. MSM didn’t make Cain come out and accuse others of playing “GOTCHA” when he was asked SOFTBALLS!.. Cain failed, pure and simple, because of Cain. Democrats didn’t put together Cain’s campaign staff, CAIN DID. Obama didn’t run Cain’s campaign incompetently CAIN DID.

Cain could not handle the basics, forget the allegations, his campaign ended independent of that, it ended by Cain’s own actions. You and HE need to stop blaming everyone else.

Zero experience in the political realm, or national poltiics and you decide you want to run for the most important political job on the planet and fail at it, that’s not exactly a suprise folks, that’s predictable. No one, EVER, has won the white house without prior political or military experience, that’s reality, and there is a REASON for that, and it has nothing to do with AXLEROD or MSM or OBAMA or the RNC or RINO’s.

Cain was not up to par, not remotely, and he got washed out for it. Thank God he got washed out for it, because honestly the GOP chances for the white house would have been over before the RNC Convention ended had he been the candidate.

I like the guy, but he needs to go actually get some experience in politics, win a election, accomplish something, build up a base and come back.. Cain was not ready for the majors in the least, and it was blindingly obvious... and it had nothing to do with whether or not he was keeping it in his pants.

Hey..you are not bound by oath or blood to stay a supporter. Do the right thing and hit the door..the next perfect candidate is waiting for you. And in 2012..oh about June..we will look forward to your rants on the President.

Perhaps she avoided being his baby momma because one or both of them believe that in the absence of “abstinence only” then one should practice “birth control only.” Let’s just hope that a baby, or worse yet, an abortion, does not appear next.
