I can believe it when it is for a prize like the POTUS.

That truly nails it it one little sentence.

How unfortunate is it that POTUS, or any elected office for the matter is viewed as a prize rather than a call of duty and/or sacrifice.

George Washington must be spinning in his grave.

It sounds to me like what our world’s history has seen before:

Roman Senators buying their way into the role of Emperor of the empire, or worse still...

Rich Italian merchant families buying their indulgences and ultimately the exalted position of Pope of the Catholic church.

Only one of the two has survived, and even then it carries the scars of a turmoil that exists even today.

What will our country’s legacy be I wonder?

and yes, the margarita is randomizing my thoughts! :)
