The Machine (Chicago’s) wants the match up to be Obama v. Romney. They think they can win on the 99%/OWS theme.
Cui bono from these death by a thousand cuts accusations against Cain? Obama. The GOP loses. Imagine even if Cain isn’t the nominee having him working the black vote for you.
Now he’s no better than a hip-hop rapper. Black popular radio is all over this story and trust me it originates from Axlerod. It’s exactly David’s style. Smoke and smoke and smoke with half of it blow by media operatives like Stephanopoulos and the rest generated by the Machine.
One slight problem with your reasoning. If Obama’s guys truly want to have Romney to run against, by destroying Cain now they help make Romney’s nomination LESS likely.
Romney needs to have the Not-Romney vote split between at least two, preferably three, Not-Romneys.
If they pick off all the Not-Romneys one by one, as they have done and Romney hast to to head-to-head with a Not-Romney,

Not-Romney is.
The Not-Romney wins.
So, if Axelpoop’s goal is to get Romney nominated, they are shooting themselves in the foot by destroying Cain now. They may get Not-Romney as a result.
If, on the other hand, they feared Cain a lot because he’s black and fear Romney as a general-all-around competent, savvy, etc. etc. (I know, I know, Freepers don’t like him but we’re talking general electorate here—in a normal, close election, conservatives holding out on Romney could doom him but in a really anti-Obama landslide, Romney might survive the loss of a good bit of the conservative base and that might be how Alexpoop sees it), they they kill two birds with one stone by taking Cain out now rather than later.
They (1) get rid of a black rival to Obama, securing the black vote without which they cannot win, and
(2) they get rid of Romney by ending the splitting of the Not-Romney Republican primary vote so they end up facing Gingrich or Perry or ???
That would better explain the undoing of Cain as originating with the Obama thugs and why they had to do it now, rather than waiting.
