Herman CainÂs chief of staff Mark Block confirmed to ABC News that the candidate told his senior staff this morning that he is reassessing whether he should stay in the race, as reported by the National Review. Cain told his staff in a conference call that heÂll make his final decision Âover the next several days. Cain has been dogged by reports of sexual harassment in recent weeks. On Monday, a Georgia woman said she had a 13-year long affair with the former chief executive of GodfatherÂs Pizza. Cain denied the affair, saying that he knew the woman but did not have an extramarital affair. Two other women have publicly accused Cain of sexual harassment when he was head of the National Restaurant Association in the late 1990â²s.

—What a year of political disappointments.—
The only disappointment I can remember that was worse than this was when McCain won in 2008. And that is only because then I thought It might matter who was president. This is worse, but in the end it really matters not whether Cain drops out now, or is elected the next president. It might impact the decoration at the white house, but that’s about it.
Presidents are not gods.
Looks like four more years of Obama now. Newt or Perry simply will not get an electoral majority to vote for them. There is just no way.
And Romney? No better than Obama. The Republic will not survive four more years of either one. And you seem joyous at the prospect.
It has to make you wonder who in the world would run for president, especially on our side, if you KNEW this stuff was in your closet?? It’s mind-boggling, but I agree that Herman knows it’s over.
I agree. I’ve been checking on moving to another country for about a year. Cain’s candidacy gave me hope. If he drops out, I’ll be heading overseas for a look-see next year during the summer.
—If a candidate is picked can we actually come together to elect one of the candidates.?—
I think people have lost touch with just how much the worlds economic woes will have escalated by this time next year. IOW, I don’t think we really understand just how utterly different the political environment will be.
It is sickening to the max, IMHO; that Herman Cain so willingly took not only the trust of those who supported him; but as well, their money. . .when for many; it may well have been a sacrifice to give. And then there is the 'big money', that coulda/shoulda/woulda have gone to a far more deserving candidate.
Beyond the betrayal of trust and money; he took time and space from the entire process. Not to mention the pain and embarrassment that is now Herman Cain's family to deal with. (I guess if his family is not reason enough to have not 'gone here'; then his worrying about any of the above, explains itself.)
Was Herman's EGO, his best kept secret? Was it worth a gamble, that he might escape such scrutiny - and disclosure?
Personally, while I liked Cain; my vote has been and continues to be; for Newt.
Yep. That about sums it up.
Pretty much this. Herman could literally admit the affair and provide timelines, and many Cain supporters would still say it was a set up.
There is no way for us to know if any of these allegations are true, but Cain's response to them has been exceedingly weak. Herman's response to the latest one is not very believable. She had his number because he wanted to help her financially? Err, yeah right.
Doesn't matter. Cain was not going to be the nominee anyway. He simply didn't have the policy knowledge for the job in the first place.
Having someone stand up and claim to have had an affair with you is *some* evidence. Now if she can tell us the dates and times of their liasons, what hotels they stayed at, things like that we'll have evidence.
You know, the same sort of details we sought and were rewarded with in the case of Bill Clinton.
If he is innocent he needs to fight the smears until the end.
But, I am pretty sure he's not innocent. So he's a philanderer.
This is an interesting election season.
Why did Bachmann get the boot from her short lived front runner status after Iowa again? She still seems like the most conservative and centered individual running.
I have never like Cain, he seems unprepared, unwilling to do the work, it seems almost like it was giant amusment to him. He often seemed to be phoning it in. His resume didn't strike me as particularly wonderful, either.
But he brought some ideas to the campaign, which was good.
If it comes down to a race between Newt and Mitt, which now seems likely, I think I might have to vote for Mitt. Newt always ends up screwing up badly.
Its beginning to look a lot like Newt. And thats not a bad thing. Don’t buy into all the crapola about Newt. He’s pretty conservative and he is a serious, knowlegeable person with a lot of eperience. Read Newt’s 21st Century Contract For America and watch some of his speeches and forums on You Tube. Don’t listen to all the libtard hype that is going around.
I’m not going to face my maker with excuses about voting for the lesser of two evils.
As predicted, the RINOs would create your own disaster and wouldn’t be man enough to admit it. Nothing new.
I’ve already decided I’ll choose Mitt over Newt. It’s not even that tough a choice.
Palin as kingmaker vs. the Rovebots at the brokered convention.
Sounds like a fun summer to look forward to.
I bet he drops out and endorses Newt. Damn shame when Republicans are treated worse than Demonrats.
Any mainstream media outlets ever do Sinclair stories?
Donald Trump is waiting in the wings as an Independent candidate.
