The purpose of using deadly force is generally to protect someone from death or serious injury. When the bad guys fled, the need to follow shooting all the way was not to prevent immediate death or injury of those within the restaurant.
The only things that might (and I use that word cautiously) be justified is to apprehend a fleeing felon or to if the person with the CCL felt that the crooks fleeing were a significant danger to others.
The guy with the CCL should take more training and be thankful he is still alive. He should also be thankful that he isn't in a location where the DA hates vigilantes more than he hates crooks, as if fairly common in some parts of the county.
Again, what the guy did was brave and probably appropriate up until the point he followed them outside.
Gotta disagree. If you don't terrorize the punks and pursue them with prejudice, they will feel safe enough to try again, with more guns. They need to be killed whenever possible, to reduce the infestation and as a lesson to their friends.
First, robbery here at a late night diner. Robbers stole a guy’s wallet. Then shot him in the head. In danger for your life any time some thug pulls a gun.
Second, had he chased them outside and shot one in the back of the head while they were driving away, he very well may have been charged for a crime. If shooter were white and victim black, Jesse and Company would be matching. rev. Al on tv calling for “justice” and the white politicians would fold and DA would go for charges, exactly as happened in the Duke lynching.
