You can look up the rules of grammar, and you will find that ironies and peculiarities go in quotes. I know what I wrote and what I intended.

That said, I do think it is a fair summary of what Cain said. Otherwise, the Hill wouldn’t have had their title read: ““Cain: Abortion should be illegal, but families will decide whether to break the law in ‘heat of the moment’”

This is what Cain said and there’s really no other way to interpret it:

“”It would be an illegal abortion. Look, abortion should not be legal — that is clear — but if that family made a decision to break the law, that’s their decision,” Cain said.” He went on to add: “take the typical family in this country, and you don’t know what they might do in the heat of the moment.”

Break the law.
Their decision.
Heat of the moment.

“Weird Position” Fantasywriter, and if you call yourself a conservative, then pro-life has to be your major concern, because Life is a right and not an issue.

He didn’t say what you said he did. In fact, he said abortion should not be legal. Why is that hard to understand? People break the law all the time. Does that make somebody else responsible for what they do? If I say, ‘It should not be legal to shoot out somebody’ tires. But if a person gets angry enough, they just might do it’ - does that make me in favor of people shooting out other people’s tires??? [And no, before you legalistically pounce, I’m not comparing babies and tires. I’m using an illustration to point out that Cain is against abortion, but he can’t stop each and every person in the country from breaking the law if they so choose.]
