WASHINGTON Newt Gingrich isnt backing off his humane immigration stance despite complaints from Republican hardliners and fellow Presidential hopefuls hes embellishing it.
The former House speaker issued 10 Steps to a Legal Nation this week, expanding on his remarks during Tuesdays GOP debate
(snip)
Those guilty only of sneaking into the U.S. would have a path to legality, but not citizenship similar to the existing naturalization process, plus a penalty fee of at least $5,000.

“Neither you, nor I, nor any of the candidates running can wave a magic wand and gather all twelve or thirty million together into one spot”
If 30 million refused to pay their taxes I bet it would be a lot less of a ‘problem’ to round ‘em up.

There comes a point with obsession when one is demagoguing an issue rather than discussing it. You passed the differentiating point a while back, IMHO.

His position has been completely misinterpreted. If you haven’t done so already you should read the transcript. It was much clearer to me when I did. The interviewer asked Cain if abortion should be illegal even in cases of rape. Cain said yes. Then he asked whether a woman who was raped should be forced to raise a child that came about because of rape. Then Cain said that’s MIXING APPLES & ORANGES (i.e. aborting a child vs raising a child). He then said that should be a family decision (i.e. whether to keep the child or put it up for adoption). He wasn’t suggesting the family needs to decide whether or not to abort said child but whether to keep said child. It was hard for me to understand when I heard it but reading it made it clear.

How can you say all those listed are out when not ONE vote has been cast yet? Those candidates are only out if we decide they are. Are you so defeated before even one vote has been cast that you’re ready to give up or is this just pre-primary hyperbole?

What the hell does foreign policy have to do with it? And “everyone” doesn’t know it. I like his foreign policy positions. Perhaps it would be better to say “I” instead of “everyone”

You and similar others (millions in fact) of LEGAL IMMIGRANTS need an effective, national, ANTI ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION LOBBY. It could be most potent. Nobody would be able to challenge your message and base mission.

Noot was done from the beginning.
There are just too many voters that remember what a disaster his gig as speaker was.

Yep. If this assessment is correct then we're f*ed. Santorum is a dead battery. Bachmann flamed out and went insane. Cain is a fine guy-- the only one I gave money to so far--but the media and establishment republicans will carve him up like a Thanksgiving turkey. The 'rats won't even have to lay a glove on him. Perry is on life support, proving that a lot of money can buy time if not votes. Huntsman and Romney? Forget it. Gingrich still is the only one who even has a plan for dealing with immigration-- And people here hate him for it. Go figure.
To: editor-surveyor
Newt is not worse than Romney. But just about.
To: concerned about politics
Only a few more left to take out, and Romney will be the last man standing - and just in time for the primaries, too!In all honesty, I don't think there is anyone else to be taken out. Perry was taken out by the media with a healthy dose of help from himself. Bachmann went nuts and is now a joke. Santorum was never in. Cain got the Thomas treatment and is now a nonperson in the media. Gingrich is being taken out by his own base. Go figure that one out. Yep, lots of people here who want to settle for Romney, I guess. Who else do they have? Oh yeah, Huntsman. I saw a couple liberal flunkies already playing him up here today.
To: SumProVita
That's part of his plan but no one here wants to admit it. It's more fun to lie about it.
To: heiss
Talk about liars.

Good Bye and Good riddance... the only good ones left: Cain, Bachmann and Santorum. Cain, Bachmann, and Santorum
Wow this list is getting smaller...
Seems like she's thinking like Newt
