If you have proven assets that are easy to attach or difficult to get rid of in a hurry, such as a lot of equity in a house, a signature bond is quite common.
Remember, a bond only needs to be sufficient to reasonably assure the accused is going to show up for court dates.
Perhaps that’s true, but I can only wonder whether or not Sandusky will really show up at his court date(s). He may decide to go on a “vacation” to some exotic location. Doesn’t the court owe it to the general population to watch out for the general welfare of its citizens? Why no electronic monitoring as requested? Why did the judge lower the bond from $500K to $100K?
