Call me crazy but I couldn’t do that to families either and I’m no Gingrich supporter. I don’t think it’s a magnet either because he’s talking about grandfathering these people in not that we would allow newcomers to stay.

I haven’t always believed this way. I just think that this country has always been about both justice AND mercy. It’s easy to be angry with them for sneaking into our country and using up our resources, I know that. However, if they have helped this country and have been good people here and have made a life and love this country I think we can work with them going through the citizen process.

I could do it. I’d have fun doing it. My family (grandparents) came into this country LEGALLY, and it took many years to actually accomplish. Newt’s whole 25 years thing is nonsense. Just a smokescreen. No way you can actually say “25” years, YOU stay, 24 years, YOU GO. He said we should deport people who came in “recently”, so how recent is recent? He said we shouldn’t “tear apart families”. So, have a kid, and you’re golden? It’s ridiculous. So basically my family has to go through the paperwork and trouble to come in LEGALLY for years, but come in illegally, join a church (Newt didn’t say which denomination though), have a kid, and BOOM, compassionate Newty will overlook our crime. This standard would legalize millions of illegals who happened to have anchor babies.

Ooooh man. I never thought Newt would step on it this bad. I thought he had the whole “speak the conservaative language” strategy all setup. Guess not.

Mercy is for suckers. It is killing this country and making us weak. Man up, and get the parasites the hell out of the USA.

Conferring rights and privileges upon illegal aliens has a corrosive effect on the Rule of Law, the very foundation of our Republic. It is also a slap in the face to legal immigrants who have followed the rules and obeyed the laws. There are millions of immigrants waiting their turn overseas to enter the U.S. legally and approximately 40 million immigrants living in the U.S., most of whom followed the law.

We had a one-time anmnesty 25 years ago in 1986. When you reward something, you get more of it. Is the message we are sending, get here any way you can and then wait for the next amnesty, the best way to deal with the 12 to 20 million illegal aliens that are here?

I agree. Especially since for the past 60 years or so illegal farmworkers have been beckoned here by the Gov and by Farms with virtually no hassles.
