To the irrational purist, I bet you feel just this way. Tankfully, Americans, and especially American conservatives think more rationally than apparently you are capable of doing. You cannot and the nation will not deport every single illegal Mexican even if we could find them all in the next year or two while a sercure border is brought to operational. If someone ahs been here two deacdes, put down community roots n all the various ways we conservatives value for families, then these people are neighbors. A green card renewable VISA OR a choice to return to their country of origin and go through proper channels if they want to become legal citizens of the US of A is the only rational way to deal with the illegal immigration problem. BUT the border must be closed, and tight, for any plan to succeed. Democrats are going to demagogue the issues at every turn, to paint Republicans as heartless anti-Hispanics. You’re all in favor of helping the democrat, apparently.
At least 2 million must be deported outright. Keep in mind, there are far more (perhaps double) than the "11 million" Wolf Blitzer suggested. I agree it is impossible to deport all 15-20 million illegals. But enforcement of existing laws cause massive numbers to self-deport. Arizona and Alabama's laws have been extremely effective. Alabama's unemployment has dropped sharply since they passed their law and illegals fled.
But as far as the "rooted neighbors", that is terribly naive, just as was Newt's "25 year" straw man. Illegals are here for all different time frames, and by all different methods. But the law breaking doesn't end there. To get a job, they need an SSN. Most of them steal one from existing Americans. This happens MILLIONS of times a year, leaving devastating effects on the credit ratings of citizens. If an illegal is here 20 years, they usually break the laws for 20 years: ID theft, SSN fraud, tax evasion, welfare, WIC, Medicaid and food stamp fraud, etc. Newt showed a total disregard for this reality, and has never supported state laws to enforce existing laws, as has Cain.
