Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee gave his thoughts on the 2012 Republican presidential candidates Sunday in an interview with WABCs Aaron Klein. As the candidates continue to trade rankings in the national polls, Huckabee, who won the Iowa caucuses in his own election bid in 2008, spoke of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romneys chances of winning the primary. The former Republican presidential candidate urged conservative Republicans to support Romney because he believes the former Massachusetts Gov. has the best chance of defeating Barack Obama in 2012.
Mitt Romney may not be their first choice, but Mitt Romney every day of the week and twice on Sunday is going to be a much more effective president for issues that they care about than Barack Obama, Huckabee told Klein. I think sometimes there is this anxiety within the Republican Party of who is the perfect candidate. The answer is there isnt one, the former Arkansas governor added.
Romney came in second behind Huckabee in the 2008 Iowa caucuses, largely because of Huckabees popularity among social conservatives in the state. A Bloomberg poll of likely Iowa voters last week showed a four way tie between Romney, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul. Huckabees popularity in Iowa could work in Romneys favor as the countdown to the Iowa caucuses begins.
The former Arkansas governor urged Tea Party Republicans to throw their support behind Romney. I think Republicans and conservatives and the Tea Party need to get behind him and say, You may not be our first choice, but between you and Obama, Ill vote 40 times to get you elected, Huckabee said.
He would be more effective telling conservatives NOT to vote for Romney.
I am not sure who will wind up with the nomination. I personally do not like any of the top candidates.
But I could vote for most of them, except for Romney. But I am also going to do all I can to see to it he does not get the nomination. A Romney nomination would be the death knell for the Republican Party and a sure catalyst for an effective 3rd party. The Elitist Pubbies know this and I doubt Romney will be the nominee.
The “leadership” of the Party had best not trifle with the T Party groups. It could be a fatal error. The Republicans only came back to power after Reagan gained the support of the Southern and Western vote. Without it the Pubbies are through. There is no way the “bitter clingers” will ever support Romney or Obozo. NEVER EVER.
So we will have to wait and see what happens.
Ha! And to think Huck stuck around long enough to help deny Romney in 2008. Now he wants us to vote for him?
NOT A CHANCE~
Don’t ruin this thread....by bringing some reality to it!!
Even if it gets Obama re-elected this Tea Partier will never vote for Romney, and I'm guessing a lot more Tea people than you think will do the same thing. I'm not going to be hoodwinked again by a another repub shister.
What a tool.
FUMH
Ohh heck NO !!! Huck ? you can not fool all the Christians..
STFU, huckster, you loser. Go back to Hope, you Dope.
Hey Chuck Norris ? your boy Huck has gone off his rocker, no, wait, he’s always been off his rocker, and Chuck ? if you don’t like that ? come and get me...
My response to Mr. Huckabee...
“Oh Hell No!”
Sorry but I am not going to settle for the lesser of two evils anymore. Our Government is out of control. It no longer represents the People and I’m frankly sick and tired of it.
I will only vote for a true Conservative candidate. If the GOP can’t come up with one, then they won’t get my vote.
I want smaller Government. Fewer taxes. Fiscal responsibility. NO MORE GUN CONTROL. NO MORE INVASIONS OF MY PRIVACY. NO MORE ATF. NO MORE Patriot Act. I want the Goverment to leave me the hell alone.
I will not be party to keeping the status quo. Either get someone in who will fix it or let Obama finish destroying it so the revolution can happen and we rebuild from the ashes.
I want a repeal to all gun control laws after the F&F BS by the Government. I want a President that will push for exactly that. Nothing less will do. If the GOP can’t pick a candidate that is willing to work to fix these issues, they don’t deserve to win.
Like Hell!! Tea Partiers, most of all, have no use for flip-flopping RINOS.
I think Republicans and conservatives and the Tea Party need to get behind him and say, You may not be our first choice, but between you and Obama, Ill vote 40 times to get you elected, Huckabee said.
What kind of lame-ass statement is that? Huckabee is not promoting flagrant voter fraud?
