PRUDEN: Newt Gingrich: Another flavor at the GOP soup kitchen
The Washington Times ^ | November 22, 2011 | Wesley Pruden

Posted on 11/22/2011 4:22:28 AM PST by no dems

Two prominent Democratic has-beens suggested Thursday that Barack Obama abandon his attempt to win a second term and turn everything over to the nanny, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

“He should abandon his candidacy for re-election in favor of a clear alternative, one capable not only of saving the Democratic Party,” write Patrick H. Caddell and Douglas Schoen in the Wall Street Journal, “but more important, of governing effectively and in a way that preserves the most important of the president’s accomplishments. He should step aside for the one candidate who would become, by acclamation, the nominee of the Democratic Party.”

Democrats couldn’t decide by acclamation to go to the bathroom. We always get this narrative at this point in the presidential election cycle. We’re close to the end of the cafeteria line, and they’re out of roast beef and nobody’s happy about what’s left, the chicken and dumplings (mostly dough and not much chicken).

So, it’s time to peddle the story that this time there’s no Snow White, only the dwarfs. Newt’s gift for harsh bloviation appeals to the ruffian who lurks deep in the American soul. When he calls the chairman of the Federal Reserve “corrupt,” scorns Barack Obama as the “food stamp president” and says if we start putting people in jail we should “start with Barney Frank and Chris Dodd,” thousands cheer.

But here’s what will happen. The Republicans will nominate a candidate (the betting here is that it will be Mitt Romney, boring and bland notwithstanding). The Democrats and Mr. Obama will proceed with their best shot, a campaign of unrelenting class warfare. Both sides will get behind their man, as they always do. Next Nov. 7, we’ll wake up stuffed with all that sirloin and with a newly elected president.

True, but he should not further the myth of a balanced budget (often referred to as a surplus), and if he is going to he sure shouldn’t be criticizing politicians for doing the same.

The good news is that your vote is totally meaningless. There is no reason for you to hold your nose. Your vote is an exercise in futility anyway. So do what you want with it. It makes no difference.

May I, without respect, remind you that it is your ACT of VOTING that gives you the “right” to complain, piss, moan, and curse out those in government?
Don’t vote, and as the Ship of State sinks beneath the waves, you can drown as you wonder what went wrong. Your last thought will be, “I should have——”

We need to change the congress and the senate!!!! Our goal should be
aggressively getting tea party candidates running against incumbents,
the whole cesspool needs to be emptied and changed every 4 years.
They will never legislate term limits we have to make them happen with
new candidates every 4 years!!!!! Any of you interested in running for
office??? Get off the couch and get busy, only we can save the country!!!

Rattler is a Newt-hating spam troll with (at least) two accounts.

The good news is that your vote is totally meaningless.

And the bad news is that the "nose holders" will ensure that RINOs keep getting elected.

Keep on voting for "lessers of evil" and you will invariably end up with evil.

SHHHHHHHH!!!! Don’t say that RockinRight. We don’t even want to mention the “whose turn it is” thing. We’ve had enough dolts nominated because it was “his turn”.

You need an all-around intelligent guy like Newt.
Look at what you got for an ex community organizer.

Hey, I like Newt. I’m having a hard time choosing between him and Cain. Did you intend to send the above comment to someone else and sent it to me by mistake; or am I missing something here?

Haven’t we all? I wonder how many FReepers on here could stand up to the scrutiny? Glad I’m not running for POTUS. My background would not pass the muster.

That is obvious, but thanks for affirming it.

The best place for a Timber Rattler is as skin, hanging on a barbed wire fence.

You are already using up the entire "whining allocation" on this forum.

Besides, I would rather solve problems and live my life constructively than sit around whining like you.
