Romney and Cain took some well-deserved shots at the occupiers today too but heres Gingrich ramping it up with a base-pleasing tea-party contrast. Between soundbites like this and the occasional roundhouse at debate moderators, Im starting to believe those Rasmussen numbers.
Just one question: Is a guy who got paid big bucks to push expensive new government health-care programs really going to emerge as the tea-party candidate? If you missed Timothy Carneys report on Gingrichs work for the pharmaceutical lobby while Bush was pushing his Medicare prescription-drug expansion, read it now. Quote:
While the Bush White House and the Republican congressional leadership supported a bill creating a new entitlement for all seniors, Washington conservatives mostly opposed the bill. Gingrich went around Washington at the time plumping for the bill to free-market groups and activists.

I am not sure what u mean. Can u spell it out a little better.
You think Newt is Liberal?
>> Do u not understand, he is part of the same DC Class (Past and Present) that has caused this countrys death spiral?
Ok, hes a lot better than Obama. And so are all the other GOP candidates. And sure I will vote for any GOP candidate.
But how is that going to stop this death spiral when we are a divided country. It wont. The supercommittee is deadlocked.
The house is voting on a phoney balanced budget admendment.
Ok, so we get a majority in the senate. Then u will have the McCain and the 14 gangsters raise their ugly heads to clog up the system.
An endless cycle that will do nothing to stop the coming collapse.>>
Your rant is interesting and somewhat correct and somewhat not correct - and you are making a circular argument with yourself - and yet you offer no solutions just more rant.
And when it all comes around, you come to the same conclusion most have - which is that all of the GOP candidates are better than Obama so we will probably mostly vote for whoever it is.
So I have to wonder, who the hell are you arguing with? It’s like its ok for you to reach the same conclusion because ONLY YOU really understand it but the rest of us dont.
BS. I fully understand it. And I actually understand that Newt’s history is a mixed bag on being part of the problem, because for much of his career he was NOT part of the problem.
Newt was fantastic on Greta tonight! he owned 4 companies and the consulting company had 30 employees. He had offices in Atlanta, St Louis and DC. His fee was paid over several years between 1999 to around 2007. Heck that is chump change and wouldn’t even cover a lunch tab in DC. He never lobbyed. He is going to release more information on this..probably tomorrow. IT is a dead issue.
Also, 18 of his staffers are back on board! and yes, he was at the 1st Coast Tea Party and got a resounding applause and cheers. Massive crowd
If he is not a Liberal, he will do until a Liberal gets there.
I don’t know what Newt is, I think he’s an opportunist.
“Newt has never had an ideal in his life, he operates off the sling principle. If you sling enough shi* at the wall something may stick.”
That’s a very interesting opinion. What’s your opinion of Barack Obama? Crickets?
Let’s see..Cain has a democrat wife, he donated to democrats AFTER he joined the GOP, his senate campaign in Georgia was endorsed by the southern coalition of rainbow push. OH and his wife voted for Obama...Cain supported Romney and he sure likes Greenspan. Cain is the rino. You can have the 999 or the 909 or the 333. I went to town tonight to buy a pizza...price was 10 dollars, county taxes included it came to 10.75 and do I want ANOTHER 90 cents added ON...HELL NO
yeah, right - he authored that supremely liberal document known as the Conract With America.
Is it that people are willing to ignore everything that happened from 1996-2011 or just that they've forgotten about it or never knew it?
He's got a few more issues than a couch and that scuzzy babe. The guy wrote a friggin' book on global warming for God's sake. He advocated strongly for cap and trade. He pushed Medicare Part D. He told us that the era of Reagan was over in 2008. There are myriad other issues, but those are the ones I can remember off the top of my head.
I'm not 100% against him, but I think his past combined with his penchant for foot-in-mouth disease will take the shine off him pretty quickly.
Wait, what? :p
the pizza would no longer be $10 it would be quite a bit cheaper from the get go.. probably in the $8.50 range because of all the unseen added taxes that would disappear with the tax reform .. at least understand the concept before you mislead people
(and I enjoy your artwork)
I’m aware of his flaws. Don’t deny them. Never have. Have written the man off in my book three or four times myself.
However, I am also aware of his good points. But most of all, I think I’m aware that the choices we have are the choices we have. There are three candidates I could support with some enthusiasm and 5 I will support if I have to. He is in the first three, warts and all. He was outstanding from 90-95, and he seems to be back in that form. That’s what I am hoping. Eyes wide open, I realize the downside risk....
Have you read the book? it is the conservatives view of global warming. You do know that throughout time the earth has warmed? at one time Europe was under ice and all of england was under ice. It melted and became inhabited. Of course the globe warmed. I am not saying it is man made or due to man as it evolved over centuries. Newt said he felt that conservatives need a voice in this debate...he supports drilling for oil and utilizing clean coal which is a fantastic idea since O is shutting down our coal industry. I do think we could come up with ideas on improving our life styles through science but not via punishing the oil industry or imposing absurd epa regulations that are costing us money. Newt said he will do away with the epa...his solutions are on his site.
I’m glad you did that so I wouldn’t have to (school her on 999 reality).....and as someone who likes Newt and Cain - and who realizes that they like each other a lot - I have no patience for the kool aiders of either with mindless attacks. These might be the two best we have. They agree on most things. They are both less than perfect.
I can deal with all of that. Some can’t.
NO the pizza will NOT be cheaper. Gas prices will not be cheaper...Cain is not going to impose prices on what a restaurant sells its product for and the county taxes where I live will not be cheaper...as a matter a fact they just tried to raise our taxes here and it was voted down thank God. NO to the 999 or the 909 or the 333 in Detroit.
I’m with you. I’d rather see him at the bottom of the ticket myself, but beggars can’t be choosers at this point.
